Cabo Yachts, a California-based brand that was sold to Brunswick Corp. in 2006, is returning with a new model in 2019. The Cabo 41 will be an offshore express-style fishing boat with twin Volvo Penta or Cummins engines, mezzanine seating, and a queen-berth stateroom. Hatteras Yachts, a unit of Brunswick Corporation, announced that it will consolidate production of both its Hatteras Yacht and Cabo has completely redesigned and re-executed the hulls of its 35-footers – the Express and the Flybridge.
Cabo Yachts, founded in 1991 in California, has been wooing serious anglers since opening shop in the California desert in 1991. In February, it attracted serious attention when Hatteras Yachts announced that it would consolidate production of both its Hatteras Yacht and CABO Yacht brands at its facility. The Mexican government has taken possession of Cabos Marina, a subsidiary of IGY Marinas. IGY’s parent company, MarineMax, confirmed the seizure in a Los Cabos article.
Cabo Yachts is now owned and built by Hatteras in New Bern, NC, and announced that the new Cabo 41 will be unveiled to the public at the Miami show. The brand, once a major High Desert employer, is closing its manufacturing facility by the end of the year and transferring its operations to North Carolina. Brunswick Corp. has added another brand to its sportfishing lineup, announcing this morning that it has acquired Cabo Yachts. With models ranging from 36 feet in length to 52 feet, Cabo Yachts has been on a mission to create the finest sport boats.
