The flight controller controls the F50 using a double twist-grip, while the foil rake, rudder pitch, cant, wing twist, and jib sheet are now driven by lithium ion batteries, leaving only the wing sheet adjustment needing the manpower of two grinders. The grinders work in the cockpit, primarily trimming the jib and spinnaker to their optimal positions.
Grinders, aka pedestal winches, are used on large yachts to provide human power to turn large winches. Two people can turn the handles instead. The work each grinder does on the boat is closely monitored and measured to ensure power generation in an as efficient way as possible.

“Nothing gets you ready for being on board the boat. The hardest part is the moving platform. You’re trying to put out as much power as you can while the whole thing is moving up and down, left and right. There’s no substitute for grinding, you can’t do much cross-training,” says Gotrel. “For ages, I couldn’t reach the same heart rates as I was when I was rowing; it has taken me six months to get to the level where I was training properly.”

What is the purpose of a trimmer?
A beard trimmer is designed to cut (or trim) shorter or finer hairs, like facial and body hair, because of the blade and tooth size. Trimmers cut closer to the skin and are made to work on the finer details of the beard, face and body.
Trimmers can also be used for detailing and for trimming hair on the face ( like sideburns ) aside from just the beard. Trimmers can also be used on body hair as needed.
Trimmers come with a variety of attachments and guards that work like those that come with your clipper, but are sized differently. We recommend referencing the instruction manual included with your trimmer for proper use.

What does trimming up on a boat do?
Rough or choppy waters. In rough water with tailwinds, your boat tends to have more weight on the bow. To avoid losing traction on your boat, you should raise the trim (turn it up). This takes the weight off the bow, which prevents the front of the boat from getting stuck in the waves.
Conversely, with a headwind, the bow will rise, weighing down the stern and increasing the wind load. The trim should then be lowered to lower the bow and reduce the impact of the hull and jumping.
Calm waters. In calm conditions, the trim will mainly help to lift the boat. Setting it to the negative position will increase its lift, making it easier to start. Once launched, you can then switch to positive to reduce the lift surface and increase speed.
You should be careful with positive trimming in calm seas. The impulse to increase speed can be a bad idea. Maintaining a positive trim will increase the ventilation effect and cause you to lose speed. In addition, depending on your hull, your boat will tend to pitch, especially during turns when it is better to keep the trim neutral.
What is the purpose of grinding?
Grinding is used to finish workpieces that must show high surface quality (e.g., low surface roughness) and high accuracy of shape and dimension. As the accuracy in dimensions in grinding is of the order of 0.000025 mm, in most applications, it tends to be a finishing operation and removes comparatively little metal, about 0.25 to 0.50 mm depth. However, there are some roughing applications in which grinding removes high volumes of metal quite rapidly. Thus, grinding is a diverse field.
The grinding machine consists of a bed with a fixture to guide and hold the workpiece and a power-driven grinding wheel spinning at the required speed. The wheel’s diameter and the manufacturer’s rating determine the speed. The grinding head can travel across a fixed workpiece, or the workpiece can be moved while the grinding head stays in a fixed position.
Fine control of the grinding head or table position is possible using a vernier calibrated hand wheel or using the features of numerical controls.
