Is Bonaire limiting cruise ships?

Bonaire gets closer to enacting the “One Ship Policy.”. In a recent press conference, an update was given on the “one ship policy” aimed at a better Bonaire experience for cruise tourists as well as residents of Bonaire. By handling a maximum of one large cruise ship per day, several improvements are being made for Bonaire. For the cruise tourists, the service and experience of the island visit will improve by spreading out the number of visitors. Bonaire can also better serve the increased number of cargo ships, partly due to the strong growth in the number of inhabitants, and entrepreneurs can offer more service to visitors. This will also relieve pressure on Bonaire’s infrastructure.

The “one ship policy” already came into effect last year, resulting from the Tourism Recovery Plan, but Bonaire is still seeing two cruise ships at a time due to older contracts that cannot be broken. As of mid-April, there will mostly be one cruise ship in port. However, smaller ships with less than 700 passengers will be allowed as a second ship. The revision of the criteria and requirements for port bookings was also discussed. Incentives for motivating cruise lines to visit during the low season is also being considered.

A recent visit from Carnival Cruise Management. Recently, TCB and OLB welcomed a delegation of Carnival Cruises management aboard the Carnival Horizon. The purpose of their visit was to better understand the island’s vision, high-quality, low-impact tourism, and a cohesive brand strategy with a focus on the visitor experience. For their part, Carnival Cruise lines introduced on-board stakeholders, including media partners, direct partners from the cruise industry, port and government officials, to their far-reaching environmental and recycling policies and an extensive Q&A session.

The ABC Islands – Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao – sit just off the northern coast of South America, an amiable trio that appeals to sun-seeking travelers from all over the world.

At first glance, they may seem like they’re all the same destination, just in slightly different fonts. While they do share some elements of culture and geography, each one has its own personality that sets it apart as a destination.

Whether you’re into underwater adventures, lazing on the beach, or diving into Caribbean culture, here’s our guide to picking the right island for you.

How many cruise ships can dock in Curaçao?

The Willemstad cruise port features two main cruise terminals: the Mega Pier and the Mathey Wharf. The Mega Pier is the primary terminal for larger ships, and it can accommodate up to five ships at a time. The Curaçao Ports Authority has a handy map showing the cruise port’s location and things to do nearby in Willemstad. Once off the pier, you’ll enter into one of my all-time favorite cruise terminal areas, Rif Seaport. Later, I’ll explain why this is such an awesome area.

It’s important to note that, like many other Caribbean nations, civilians in Curaçao are prohibited from wearing camouflage, so leave that at home (or back on the ship).

Is Bonaire cheaper than Aruba?

ARUBA: Although you can find some good value condo-style properties in Aruba, overall Bonaire offers accommodations at a cheaper price point.

For example, when we stayed at the adorable Boardwalk Boutique Hotel in Aruba it was around $500/night for the Deluxe Coco Casita with a kitchenette and outdoor shower.

BONAIRE: The cost per night at our stay at the Bamboo Bonaire Boutique Resort was around $250/night for a room with a private plunge pool. Even the newer boutique hotels like Belnem House Bonaire are around $250/night.

ARUBA: Aruba has lots of fun activities to participate in. Here are some highlights to give you a taste of what the island has to offer:

Is it better to go to Aruba or Curaçao?

Given Aruba’s beautiful beaches, it has little need of extra attractions. The much larger Curaçao has more things to do generally, with the capital of Willemstad being the center for many.

The aloe features on Aruba’s coast of arms, and Aruba Aloe has been making its products since 1890. It is one of the few companies in the world that grows, harvests, and processes its own aloe.

De Palm Island is an idyllic private island off the coast of Aruba with a water park and coral reef to explore. Its flock of pink Chilean flamingos and Cuban flamingos is a unique sight in this region.

Is Aruba or Curaçao better?

Most tours you’ll find in Aruba revolve around water activities, nature, and casinos, while Curacao puts a lot more focus on its food, heritage, arts, wellness activities, and nature.

Aruba also feels more “Americanized” while Curacao feels more authentic in the sense that it sticks to its Dutch and Caribbean roots.

Another key difference between both islands is their beaches! Aruba’s beaches are longer, wider, and feature soft white sand, while Curacao’s beaches while beaches in Curacao are typically smaller, rockier, and hidden away in coves.

Size is also a difference. Curacao is almost twice the size of Aruba, making it a bit more time-consuming to explore.

Can cruise ships go to Curaçao?

Located in West Willemstad, this port welcomes large cruise ships and is just a few-minute walk into downtown. Spend time in Curaçao’s natural environment, exploring the many diverse ecosystems found in this nature preserve.
