Who uses CocoCay?
Coco Cay aka Little Stirrup Cay, is privately owned by Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (RCCL). It is about one mile long, 1/3 of a mile wide, and its white-sand beach is reserved exclusively for RCCL’s guests. They have transformed the island into a great one-day stopover for its cruise passengers, and every imaginable form of water sports can be found on it. There are also lots of restaurants and bars, shopping, spas, slides, and a water park that caters to young and old.

CocoCay is a 125-acre island located in the Bahamas’ Berry Island chain between Freeport and Nassau. The tropical oasis, previously known as Little Stirrup Cay, is exclusive to Royal Caribbean guests. With white sandy beaches, lush greenery and translucent waters, CocoCay is the perfect spot to do everything or nothing at all.

Free Things to Do. For zero charge, guests have access to Splashaway Bay and Captain Jill’s Galleon (two splash pads for kids); Oasis Lagoon (the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool, spanning three-quarters of an acre); and the beaches Breezy Bay at Chill Island and South Beach (loungers are free, but daybeds and cabanas must be rented for a fee).
Options Available for a Fee. For an extra charge, the fun really kicks in. Thrill Waterpark, with 13 slides and a wave pool; the 1,600-foot zip line; and Up, Up, and Away (a helium balloon ride) all cost extra. You must also pay to enter the exclusive Coco Beach Club and Hideaway Beach zones —the former is where you’ll find the overwater cabanas, while the latter is the adults-only beach club. Other extra activities include snorkel and kayak rentals, as well as formal excursions, such as jet skiing and scuba diving.
Dining on Perfect Day at CocoCay. Dining is included at Skipper’s Grill, Chill Grill, and Snack Shacks on Perfect Day at CocoCay; here, you can find burgers, tacos, sandwiches, salads, and even soft-serve ice cream. Then there’s the restaurant Captain Jack’s, which is known for its chicken wings, where you have to pay per dish. If you pay to enter Coco Beach Club, your admission includes dining at a Mediterranean restaurant. Similarly, Hideaway Beach admission covers food at its Snack Shack and Slice of Paradise pizza bar.

CocoCay or Little Stirrup Cay, sometimes titled Perfect Day at CoCoCay () is one of the Berry Islands, a collection of Bahamian cays and small islands located approximately 55 miles (89km) north of Nassau. It is used for tourism by Royal Caribbean Group exclusively. Little Stirrup Cay is adjacent to Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian Cruises’ private island since 1977.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., which owns Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises, assumed the lease of the island upon acquisition of Admiral Cruises in 1988. In 2019, the island was extensively renovated by Royal Caribbean at the cost of $250 million and renamed Perfect Day at CocoCay. Upon being announced in 2018, the renovation plans were criticised by activists, who raised concerns about harm to the environment and “natural beauty”, drawing Disneyland comparisons, and to small local businesses.
