The Cost Of An Illinois Senior Discount Car Sticker?

The Illinois Department of Aging (IDOA) is offering a reduced-fee license plate discount for seniors and persons with disabilities. Under Public Act 102-0807, effective Jan. 1, drivers who qualify for IDOA’s Benefit Access Program will pay only $10 for their license plate stickers, a decrease from $24. Residents who meet the requirements can purchase one discounted City Sticker at $30.59/year.

For seniors aged 81-86, renewals are free for drivers 87 and older. Eligible older adults and persons with disabilities will see their annual license plate renewal fee reduced by more than half in the new year. The Illinois Department on Aging also provides two benefits for seniors and persons with disabilities: a license plate fee discount and free rides on fixed-route transit systems. Eligibility is determined by the Illinois Department on Aging. When buying or renewing your license plate sticker, submit a letter to verify eligibility for the discounted rate of $10.

The new law aims to provide a more affordable option for drivers, particularly those aged 65 or older, or those who are totally disabled or have specific qualifications.
