📹 10 Aldi’s SHOPPING SECRETS ONLY The Employee’s Know!
Thank you so much fro watching my videos about Aldi’s SHOPPING SECRETS ONLY The Employee’s Know! It is no secret that I …
The shopping cart quarters are actually one of my favorite parts about Aldi. As a kid I would return people’s carts for them at places like this to make a few coins for the candy machine. As an adult, I often give my cart away, to another little kid wanting candy quarters, to a mom with hands too full of kids and things to fetch a quarter, to the pensioner who is on a fixed budget, to someone who smiled and said hello. The quarter doesn’t mean much to me but spreading a small kindness and even receiving that kindness means so much. It’s like a small moment of goodness in my day. For me, the carts are sort of a symbol for hope.
Aldi does have the best chocolate . Their choice of Christmas cookies and other European foods are something I always look forward to. I have bought some nice plants and trees from there also. I shop for most of what I need there and have for years. I have never had a bad item or unpleasant experience. Their staff is always very pleasant and helpful. Just an all around good place to shop. They also have good ice cream.
Love the chocolate at Aldii. I get so mad when they’re out of the “fruit & nut” variety cause its my favorite. It’s absolutely true about the Aldi candles. They are FABULOUS!!! I have spent soooo much more on scented candles elsewhere only to discover they have ZERO fragrance. Don’t think about it. Just buy them. You won’t be disappointed.
I don’t mind bagging my groceries because I can do it my way. I put all of the cold items together, I can make sure that produce doesn’t get damaged, and if you place a loaf of bread on top of a dozen eggs, the bread doesn’t get mashed. My mom has banker boxes in the back of her car so she can sort her groceries as she boxes them. It also makes it easier to carry them into the house. Thank you for the great information!
Yes! Regarding the candles, chocolates, wines at Aldi are amazing. I shopped at Aldi for 12 years when I lived in NJ and now in LA. The quality is consistently excellent. My grocery bill is 1/3 of what it would be at the Ralph’s near my home. I disagree about the toilet paper; I find it very good. I recently had to buy some at Ralph’s and was disappointed in the quality and it definitely cost me more money. I also love their organic food and everything (the desserts) from Europe. 🙂 Thank you.
While making you return carts and not having bags and other little things does affect the bottom line, it’s important to realize that Aldi’s main strategy for giving us low prices is that they limit choice in favor of more types of products at lower prices. You will not find four brands of potato bread or two different brands of baked beans at Aldi. There will generally be one choice of each type, and the majority will be one of Aldi’s branded imprints. The products are not all labeled “Aldi,” though, but they are house brands. I recommend taking a chance on any product type you normally buy to see if you like the Aldi version. The quality of their prepackaged goods, dairy, breads, and canned goods are all excellent!
I went shopping at Aldi’s today here in Miami, FL. Like usual I found all the products that I needed, plus a few more that grabbed my attention. I have a Publix a couple of blocks from my home, but I drive about 12 miles to go the nearest Aldi for my shopping. It looks that I might have a closer one soon that is under construction about a 5 minutes drive! By the way “I love Aldi’s” too!
Never been to Aldi, my mom used to swear by them …that was her store . RIP MOM, I’m gonna make you proud and check out Aldi…I’m from Jersey now living in Joshua Tree and we just got one recently …my mom had a red metal disc on her key chain that she used in the quarter slot ….she said you cant drive away if your keys are hooked to the cart

I wouldn’t say that Aldi candles are better than BBB candles, but they’re definitely comparable and cheaper. Yes Aldi is great! It’s a great place to save on produce and European chocolate. My grocery bill is always 1/2 of what it is when I shop at Publix, although I still have to go to Publix to get some groceries that Aldi doesn’t have.
Thank you for your time and tips! I love Aldi weekly specials, their cast iron is amazing and crystal is perfect! I am really excited to go shopping tomorrow morning and try your tips, especially Basil and other spices and I am sure that I will overspend and be happy after shopping. Thanks again for the produce tips too!
I absolutely agree!!! I used to HATE Aldi’s because produce is a big chunk of our grocery budget. Problem was that in a day or 2 (if even that long) the produce would go bad. I’ve recently been “retrying out” Aldi’s & was impressed this go around. Still slowly trying a lot of their products out, but maybe now I’ll be able to shop there & be satisfied with their produce. Not sure about trying out their meat items…. What does everyone say about those?
Thank you! I started shopping at Aldi’s when they first got to my town. Idk, 40yrs ago? Maybe more. I love that store. I don’t drive anymore so I haven’t been able to go there in years. But… Tomorrow! My daughter has the day off and we’re going! While my grandson is at work because his hours coincide perfectly with their Sunday hours. I’m hoping the little ceramic cooking dishes will be there! In red. They are perfect for my new air fryer oven. We only have one car for 4 people working and college. I’m really excited. I just hope I can get around ok. Have a safe week and God bless!😍 New sub
Target used to have a timer so they would have to rush through when they couldn’t even say hello to people. It’s nice to be timed. But to be frank with you sometimes a little human interaction is much appreciated. They scan fast. But if I thought that they were getting yelled at because they’re not scanning fast enough, it does not make me happy. It makes me pissed off. It makes me feel like they think they are robots. Really and truly. So on that point I guess it’s important that if you can get scanned in 14 seconds and it’s $32 good for you. but I find it very disconcerting abd sad to the human soul that your whole life depends on making sure u scan fast. . You don’t have to go slow in this world. But you can’t make employees feel like they’re flippin robots. Sorry but true…
Thank you so much so glad You popped up on my feed. I just subscribed. I love aldis too since we moved to Fla that strange he won’t go to Aldi, not that he went in Massachusetts, But I love it and he drinks milk like a child ( hes 80 ) so tomorrow he will hear about the cheapest milk around. Now he will go to Aldi.
Adli’s Gardenia fragrance candle. BBB white Gardenia candle. IMO same. I got BBB as a Christmas gift. Bought Adli’s to compare. Put one in my kitchen. One in my bedroom. Light daily…same amount of time. Both lasted the Same 😮 amount of time n both smelled delightful everyday. I have read people saying Aldi’s looses it fragrance. I did not find that to be the case …then I went a step further and thought. Oh my I can buy 5 Aldi’s for the price of 1 BBB wow,
I liked the article information but when you accentuate every word, I ended up with earaches and a headache after the article. Maybe edit the audio or talk a little more monotone. Thank you for making the article … also, you can’t beat their prices for the wipes and it may be dependent on location but their toilet paper prices have come way down.
the refund policy is true. i had to rebuy ice cream cuz the last one was soupy, the cashier noticed i was buying another ice cream and mentioned it so i told her what happened, bam! immediately she gave me a refund and didnt ring up my ice cream, no “show the receipt” but i am in a small town and i shop there frequently.
hi! i’m an aldi employee. you’ve got a ton of things right! but there are a few things that you did get a little bit wrong. the register thing is definitely correct. we get tracked on speed, time in between customers. but what is incorrect is the “discount” thing. if anything is damaged, we take it off the shelves and donate it (we CANNOT sell it). the only time we can change a price is if there’s a markdown sticker. even then, our manager has to come in.
I am a dedicated Aldi shopper because I have Celiac and MUST eat gluten free. Aldi has a large, consistent, and tasty election of all things Gluten free. Also many of the regular products do not contain gluten or other chemicals. I eat a mediterranean diet and they have a huge selection of organic veggies, fruits, etc at great prices! Read the labels! Their jams and jellies areoften produced in Belgium and are a fraction of regular stores imported products. I have a love/ hate relationship with the seasonal items but Look forward to the changes as well. It reminds me of shopping in Europe and you will meet shoppers from many countries at Aldi. BTW that quarter for the cart is a great way to pass on a blessing.
The ONLY thing I would caution people about is to READ the labels, whether at ALDI, or anywhere other grocery store. Ground Bug flour (made from crickets, meal worms etc) has begun turning up in many bread products, frozen pizza dough, protein bars, puff cheesies etc, cookie mixes, as a cheap alternate source of flour. So just read your labels. Canada is doing it big time, and you really have to look to find it. And the European Union approved its use too. Good luck.
Great article I love Aldis ❤❤😁 Best Produce ever and deals! The chicken salad w Cranberries is Awesome although they recently increased the price ☹ so now it’s a special taste item when I have the extra cash for it! Still delicious! The wine selection is Great aldi and I love the Chocolates! Tyfs! They’re bldg New locations in Ohio Awesome!😁👏🏾👏🏾💯 Been shopping there for years my Mom suggested it and I fell in love😁❤ it’s my Main store! Them and Savealot!!
We have 3 Aldi’s near us and we shop all of them. We absolutely love their cucumbers. I know- it’s a weird thing to love but they are the freshest, crispiest and best tasting that we’ve found from ANY store. I didn’t know that the employees would help you out if you didn’t have a quarter. Nice to know for those that forgot/don’t have one. I recently bought the Easter truffle eggs and they were amazing!
I was disappointed to find out that the eggs I got for 77¢ in a nearby town are $1.64 in my local Aldi. The cashier said the other town was a depressed area even though she had no idea where it was. (It’s actually my hometown about 45 minutes away!) Not sure I agree that mine now should be more than twice as expensive as theirs. I do love the three wick candles. Some of the scents are just absolutely delicious. Always buy your cotton candy grapes there – they’re almost half the price of my local grocery store. So yummy. Despite the egg issue I am still a dedicated Aldi’s shopper. 😊
I was surprised last month to see self check out areas. At first I had mixed feelings, but noticed that the people that had just a few items checked out very quickly. This also made those like us who round off our cart once a month get through the checkouts faster as well. This might even improve the efficiency of the store.
Thank you for your article! I love shopping at Aldi for a number of reasons: smaller store is quicker to get through, food quality is fine (I think their chocolate is far better than American brands), I like bagging my own groceries to pack them my way and I enjoy the non-food specials there. I’ve found some great buys there including kitchen ware that is great and cheaper than Walmart. I think the Crofton brand is excellent! Would love to know who the manufacturers are. I appreciate your info on the spices being made by McCormick. No wonder I’ve had good experiences with them! NOTE: a store manager told me many years ago that Aldi brand coffee was made by Hills Brothers. I don’t know if that’s still true but I’ve used their coffee and liked it as well as name brand. Their hot cocoa packets are wonderful and cheaper! I esp. like their natural peanut butter. It’s at least as good as Jiff Natural. They also carry American cheese that is NOT processed cheese food but simply American Cheese. It’s SO good like what I ate as a child! Well worth the slightly higher price! I could go on and on! I’ve been married for 45 years and have been shopping at Aldi almost since the beginning. It was a completely different store back then!! 😀 It’s changed a lot over the years—many more product offerings! Oh! Must mention their spaghetti sauce is in some cases better than name brand and MUCH cheaper! Have you seen the price of spaghetti sauce at big box stores?! And ONE more thing. I agree their kitchen trash bags are superior to name brand.
Aldi’s has improved greatly in the past 25+ years. I first got to know it when I lived in PA in the late 90s, at the time the store was considered substandard in some ways and it was not so popular. Now it is so much better, better than its European stores. I went to one in Germany, it was not nearly as neat as in US.
This was fabulous as I shop at Aldi‘s all the time. I had no idea their seasonings or a top grade. I will buy those from Aldi‘s than two. I do all of my fruits and vegetables there. The other place I shop is Costco. Meat is probably best to me at Costco. Big thick steaks and such. But those two or where I buy most everything. I can’t imagine why so many people do not take advantage of all these prices.
The quality of fish and chicken degraded recently so I stopped buying them from Aldi, as well as their tortellini, sardines and few others. But I don’t have a problem with their spices, eggs, cake mix, chocolate. Produce from Aldi can be tasteless compared to others. Can you tell we are super tasters 😂
The only item I purchase at Aldi’s in small-town Missouri that is more than another store in the same town is their 1/2 gallon of 2% milk. Aldi’s is $2.15 and Schnucks is $1.99. Both these prices are for delivery orders. And YES! Their candles burn better, have a better throw, and last longer than other candles
You have to be an informed consumer. First it is Aldi, NOT Aldi’s. Now the topic of Milk. It’s NOT always the cheapest place to buy it. In my area Aldi is $3.29 to $3.69 per gallon. Wal-Mart is only $1.99 and has been for years. Also ANYONE who has shopped at Aldi for any length of time KNOWS the store is GERMAN Based.!! There is much more you said that’s INCORRECT, but I’m not going to get into it. Anyone who’s an Aldi shopper knows what the correct facts are. I wish people who want their 15 minutes of fame on YouTube, professing to inform the public WOULD DO THEIR RESEARCH FIRST. This just makes you look really IGNORANT.!
Aldi has the best produce compared to high end chain stores in St. Louis. That’s the only place I can find decent cucumbers. As far as the quarter for the cart, that makes sense but in some areas, it’s purpose is to keep people from walking off with the carts never to be found again. The carts are very expensive to replace. The spices info was really cool. I never knew.
The candles are amazing! Great throw to the scents, great selection and last a long time because they are soy which burns slower. They are better then Yankee for sure! I also love the paper towels that dupe the name brands, they also come in a 2 Mega Roll Pack which I love. There’s just so much to love at Aldi’s. I did have to return some yeast 3pk and got double my money back! They are a great store!
Aldi’s carries a whole milk lactose free milk which is very competitively priced. It won’t upset my stomach and I am thankfully enjoying milk again. A taste test was performed on their all beef hotdogs and they beat Hoffmans and Hatfield brand on taste. I shopped at a local NJ Wegmans for normal bi-weekly groceries and found Wegmans to be 25% higher on everything vs Aldi’s except for bananas which were 49c per pound vs Aldi’s 50c per pound. ONE thing that I wish Aldi’s had would be a fresh water filling station wherein you bring in your own 5 gallon or 1 gallon jugs to be refilled. Santa Monica CA has these water filling stations at most grocery stores rich or poor. IN Monmouth county NJ, however, I am hard pressed to find affordable water for home use ANYWHERE. The home water services are esspensive and now Home Depot charges $7.79 for a 5 gallon jug of water. Unacceptable. In tony and expensive Santa Monica CA, one can fill a 5 gallon water jug for about $2.75.
Has anyone caught their breakfast pizza,it’s a once in awhile item so look out for it,it’s delicious with a biscuit crust and sausage, cheese and egg topping!Yummy.😋 Candles are the best and cheaper than most other places, scent lasts through hours of burning and I do seasonal scents so if one isn’t finished I pack it away until season rolls around again, still as fresh as ever! 😉
I like Aldi’s HOWEVER, 2 negatives for me: 1. Our Aldi’s is MESSY and feels like we’re entering someone’s unkept GARAGE or ATTIC. 2. The cashiers seem to be pretty LAZY. They SIT at the register and COULDN’T be BOTHERED to go out of their way to HELP you. (Anyone else experience this?!) If you can be OKAY with this, you CAN get some good prices.
Aldi keep their prices down by only having a limited stock and not having to negotiate for brand names. They also keep aisles basic and have a smaller amount of employees to run the shop, with all staff doing multiple roles within the shop – the lack of bags is an environment issue carried over from Europe, as are employees being allowed to sit and the trolleys being returnable coins, these do not make a massive impact of profits The produce is reasonably high, and excellent for the price. So pleased I have one within walking distance, had no idea they were so popular in the states
I sometimes shop at Aldi’s. I agree their brand of dark chocolate & chocolate tastes really good. Their brand organic Mac & Cheese is really good. I always buy at least 2 boxes when there. In Florida now they r $2.99. They have some good choices.there for different things. The one thing I don’t like is their brand of bread as it tastes doughy. The regular name brand there like organic Dave’s bread tastes fine, though maybe just 30cents cheaper than regular stores.
Hi, Liked your article, found it very interesting and helpful. I heard you nice and clear which is good because of my hearing aids. I did find that you spoke to fast for me to get it,so showing like the candles like I love was great. Warmly a friend named mary. Please always smile, it’s the only thing that we can All afford. 4🌷
I like Aldi’s toilet paper and paper towels and can’t be bothered shopping @ to save .50. I love their organic milk, especially the price which is about 1/2 than other supermarkets. There are a few things that Trader Joe’s has that I wish Aldi had such as the everything rolls, uncured bacon and cheeses. But since we don’t have a local Trader Joe’s but have 2 Aldi, I will get those items when in those areas.
I’m so glad this came up in my feed, as we are getting our very first Aldi in my neck of the woods and they’re grand opening is the 16th of this month. A week away. I’m so excited and can’t wait. The good news is it’s being built less than 10 minutes from where I live. I will be there bright and early quarter and bags in hand and ready to check them out. What about their meat dept. How do you like the meat there and the price of meat? Curious about that. Great article.
I noticed that many people (sheeple?) repeated the same type of comment. I am not in disagreement. Yes to the chocolate, candles, cheese, and Christmas seasonal cookies and other European imports. But nobody mentioned the wine. $3 for a bottle of winking owl (I like the Shiraz). I am sure the wine snobs might disagree but this wine is tasty.
By the way Aldi Store, today is May 27, 2022, if you are looking for an address for your store in the Clairemont area, here in San Diego CA.,the Rite-aid Pharmacy that was located in the northwest corner of Genesee and Balboa Ave, now closed down, it is empty the store.don’t know for how long, it because I was out of the area for about a month, but check it out. If you aré interested, either you or Trader Joe’s, go get. I love these stores. Thanks.
I’m jere because I ventired to get frozen cod filets… yeah, I know…what was I thinking. They are awful and wanted to know their return policy. Good to know you confirmed their policy since Ive never jad to return anything. Bit, yeah these bad boys are going back tmrw. That said, I can confirm their candles are the bomb. They burn long & slow and are very fragrant. I have a gardenia now which is one of my summer favorites. Their chocolates are definitely legit. Though I’m not a huge chocolate eater I forgot to grab a 80% dark chocolate bar today. I like the sea salt, mint, and the orange. My Sweetie loves the sea salt and caramel niggets. Cheeses… YES! Holiday Hor d’oerves are also very good. If you’ve ever been to Trader Joe’s and you end up in Aldi’s one day you’ll immediately make the association that, “they have to be connected”. Also, the sister company, Liedl(sp) has moved into Pennsylvania, but hasn’t reached my area yet. Oh, one more thing…be forewarned about that specialty aisle as you will undoubtedly find things you “think” you need or want…lol.
Just FYI. Aldi is a European store. In Europe it is the norm to put either change in your cart or ( like some stores, ) they give you a token to use. It is the norm in Europe that cashier’s sit in ergonomic chairs and that you bag your own groceries. You can buy plastic bags but the store bags that are sold for 99 cent are such better quality. Some stores are even slower like Auchan (french store). They (cashier’s) would divy out coupons for you. And were always customer engaged. I lived in Italy. Took a bit getting used to because here in America we’re used to getting in and getting out and Europe it’s not like that. At least not in Italy. My favorite store was lidl.. however the American version of lidl I don’t like. They don’t offer a lot of the products that lidl normally offers. Every week in lidl was a celebration of one country. They had their standard items but every week you would celebrate Sweden, the UK, Italy.. so on and so forth. Lidl also sold fresh pasta for next to nothing. You could get fresh pasta like tagliatelle for $0.99 for a 500 G package. Here you’re lucky to get a 250 g package for under $6. Which I find simply ridiculous. As far as the prices of toilet paper I think it depends on your area because here toilet paper at Aldi is much cheaper than any other store around.
Oh on their pots and pans. Crofton is the brand they call it. I use induction cooking which is fantastic. And all of their pants are magnetic on the bottom so you can use them in induction. A lot of the people that come in there don’t understand induction cooking. But I bought a two of the induction tubs at Costco one time when my stove was being weird. So when I show them what I’m talking about and that cost break of maybe $20 for a really nice skillet that is induction ready is very good. It really is. So you learn.
In europe there is NO person who gather carts, NO person who bag anything for you and the carts magicaly end up at the right place and the que to pay are not stressed and not slow. We all pay for our bags or bring our own, no shops are aloud to give bags away for free since that leads to overconsumtion of bags.
My Aldi says they stock at any time. Wednesdays make no difference. I recently discovered their frozen vegetables & was amazed at the quality (& I live in the kand uf the “Jolly Green Giant.”). We now buy most of our meat at ALDI except Aldi does not have smoked products. Lately I’ve found their tissues & paper towels to be competitive with other stores. Products seem to vary a bit by store & city.
Produce is tricky and it varies per store. My late husband worked in the Acme grocery chain for 20 years and much of that time he was in produce. It’s a delicate balance of culling The spoilage and ordering correctly based on sales. However Aldie doesn’t really run sales like the other stores do so it does depend on who manages the produce stock. My local store, small town 4000 people, has lousy produce. I’ll buy a three pack of peppers and have to throw two of them away. Many times the cherries have no flavor, and the bagged salad is already brown. Very often are bananas are so green they have to sit for a week before you can even attempt to eat them. So it is depending on the location and not just an overall good rating.
I actually prefer to bag my own groceries. Inevitably, if I don’t bag my groceries in a regular store, cold item are not kept together, cleaning products are in with food items…. If I have limited time, I will just put cold items away and put the rest away later. It’s incredibly frustrating to find a cold item under a box of cereal, in with the cans of cat food…and warm by the time I get back to it..
I love all D’s but like everywhere else their prices have skyrocketed I don’t like their milk but I love their sour cream and Gatti’s cheese. Just personal things like that I’m 75 years old and pretty crippled up. I wish they would get riding carts so we could shot more and longer, but I know that would drive up to cost. I just take my walker in and hang bags on it. Lol.
I love going to Aldi’s because I have food allergies . Garlic is the biggest issue- everything practically has garlic in them – alot of aldis products dont have garlic on them. 😢I’m sad though because I found that Aldis is stop carrying Chef Cubbard brand chicken noodle soup. They are also changing the rest of the chef cupboards soups to Campbell soup products- thats 😢sad for me- because Campbell soups have garlic in them. I’ve been to all the Aldi’s in my area- none have Chef Cubbard chicken noodle- I would live to find several cases
A buddy of mine takes all her bags but she doesn’t bring them inside. She just leaves everything in the cart and she goes to her car and loads her bags. But I’m in Central Florida so the weather is conducive to that. But it’s no problem to take the bags and then she said you put your stuff where you want to. But I thought the idea of take your crap to the car why do you have to bag it in there was kind of so smart that I am feeling like I need to take a nap. We had a lot of storms in Central Florida and I’m kind of tired this morning so interesting article you take care of yourself. Peace and blessings. Gail in Central Florida Tuesday, April 6, 2022.
Yesterday I went to Aldi i couldn’t believe the courtesy of 3 employees to help me out locating couple of items unfortunately didn’t recall their names (2young gentlemen &a nice young lady) I love Your organic, wild caught,European bakery goods Specially selected sourdough &sprouted grain bread items)everything else also very nice that I looked quality and price wise thx for keeping good employees but I prefer the wkly flyer mailed like most other stores here resumed if you can.
How many different “sizes” of Aldi stores are there? We live in a smaller city and our Aldi does not seem as big as some of the articles that I watch of Aldi shoppers in their stores. Also, our store never gets the bigger items, like the beverage bar that was popular over the past few weeks, or the exercycle, any other furniture items, etc. I watch shopping articles and then head to our store only to find they don’t have some of the grocery items either I’ve seen on a article either. Prime example: our store NEVER did get the Kringles that everyone went crazy over. So I keep thinking we must have one of the smaller sized Aldi’s. Thank you in advance for any answers you may have.
I can’t speak for Aldi, but in my cashier days, a really slow scanner might be penalized, possibly even moved off the register, but, in general, scanning speed is more of a psychological tool. People are competitive. The average cashier doesn’t want to have a line snaking out into the aisles, so they aren’t going to waste time anyway, but scanning speed is like getting a gold star: we don’t need it, but we want it. 😉 After you’ve been working a few weeks, it’s easy to be efficient. That said, I acknowledge that there is always that one cashier…. But if they’re monitoring scanning speed, they’ll move that one. And, tbh, they probably aren’t going to be working there long….
I’ve only found a few things that I wouldn’t buy at Aldis…canned veggies aren’t the best and chili seasoning. Made a big pot of chili with their chili seasoning packets, tasted it, threw it out. Sorry, McCormick, I was bad and strayed…never again. Love the produce, spices and dairy at Aldis, though. Just wish I could remember to bring my bags!
On the Wednesday to make sure you shop in the morning if you can. I was looking for something it was baseline the other day on Wednesday afternoon. And they were already out of it. So Wednesday is good cause that’s when all the fun stuff comes out. Also if you watch the deal guy out of Canada and he will say, “these are the 10 things you should be buying at Aldi’s this month. You know the guy I’m talking about. Matt Granite It won’t necessarily make it to your Aldi’s at that time. It’s like Costco. He will show things that are coming into Costco but it never makes it to say central Florida at the same time. So this is very interesting and you learn certain things are really incredible at oldies. I buy a lot of their frozen shrimp and frozen bass scallops and fresh fish at Aldi’s. Worth the money throw them in the freezer. Good deal. The other night I had a handful of bass scallops from the bag, some angel hair pasta that admittedly is DeCicco which I do not buy at Aldi’s. But I added this month all these fun thing is the land of Lakes spreads and they have them in 33. Honey, garlic and herb and cinnamon sugar. Well you can imagine the cinnamon sugar is heaven. But I sautéed the scallops in the garlic and herb with a little extra touch of olive oil and prepared this wonderful thing and it’s wonderful.
I have been shopping at Aldi since 2009.I buy their dark chocolate bars and bagel seasonings and most of the others.Im nuts about Aldi.2009 was when it 1st came to Florida in my neighborhood. Also their Hawaiian Bagels I have never seen anywhere else.So many other things.Everyone who has not been there give it a try and I think you will be addicted to the lower prices.Even if your wealthy, why pay more.i also bag my groceries better wet with wet dry with dry.Chemicals in their own bag and eggs and bread sits at the front upper section with bread on top.
My only problem is one of the management at our local store was rude to me a customer because I was not putting the items on the belt fast enough. Simply fix don’t start ringing up the customers until they have everything out of the cart. I wasn’t holding up the line because there wasn’t anyone else in the store.
A search on my cell says that Aldi’s and Trader Joe’s are NOT sibling companies or owned by related people, at least not the Aldi’s that Americans are familiar with. SO, maybe the European Aldi’s IS ? I see below that another poster says it all too. My local Aldi’s and all of them I’ve been to don’t have a wide selection of spices. The non food items, I rarely buy, but sometimes something I see is something that I need. I usually buy the same food items every week. I am not happy that they no longer have V8 on the shelves. I used to always get my V8 at Aldi’s, but, they no longer stock it. I’m guessing it is because of how prices have gone up on it. Now, if I want V8, it’s like almost $4 at other stores. It had been approximately $3.18 at Aldi’s. Unless my memory is on the fritz. $3.18 sounds right though. Aldi’s meats CAN be cheaper, BUT, check for sales in other stores for deals on meat that CAN end up being cheaper. MY Aldi’s often sells out of chicken fast and you end up seeing mostly bare shelves, unless you want to buy drumsticks. I still shop at my Aldi’s, but, I end up buying the same things and sometimes they don’t have what I want in stock. But, really you are going to have that now with the war in Ukraine and inflation, although I don’t know how that should affect things here, it is how it is. Before the war, the excuse had been the Covid virus causing us from being able to get supplies we need as easily as before, and, sure, I’ll buy that for a while, BUT, REALLY? It’s been a while, so, why haven’t we gotten at least 70% closer to “back to normal?
Take note that Aldi is transitioning to self checkout and from what I hear they only have one live cashier which causes a long line that clogs the aisles making it hard to shop. SO disappointing! I’m a lifelong Aldi fan and grocery pickup is the best, except for some issues with Instacart, otherwise Aldi shoppers are great.
Aldi’s is weak on Customer Service, which hardly exists. Getting specific questions answered about an item is almost impossible to obtain. And that’s IF you can chase down their elusive store associates — very time consuming. Further, much of their produce originates outside the U.S. Produce from south-of-the border carries a much higher pesticide & herbicide load. Regions in the U.S., like California, have stricter regulations. For consumers concerned about food safety, when shopping at Aldi’s, it is imperative to look out for the “country of origin” on the packaging and produce boxes. For example, for awhile, all the garlic at Aldi’s was China imports.
Went there ONCE last yr..2023 summer. Flies all over old fruit and veggies on a Saturday…store was dirty! Most of my area is Hispanic…they stared at me like I was a freak, refused to let me pass until finally I moved their carts. I know enough Spanish to say, ” excuse me please”…but no. I left that dirty, fly ridden store in San Jacinto, CA!!
Yhr checkout process is so unpleasant that it causes me to think twice about shopping there. The products are pretty good, but I always feel like they can’t wait for me to leave. This is even true for self-checkout. Today the screen on the self-checkout kept telling me to hurry up. It is like they are saying, “Give me your money and get out of here.”
Yes there 3 wick candles are better. I only shop at Aldi. Best quality & pricing for xsmall to small families or those amazing women 💖 who can feed a family of 9 w/ lb of ground meat. McCormick?? I Do Not buy anything McCormick, so I thought. McCormick puts sawdust in their products to boost volume. More money for less actual product. Sawdust (wood) is ACIDIC, which causes inflammation & creates many devastating dibilitating health issues. McCormick knows this very well. Other than that…I❤Aldi
Please check into the name and real relation to Trader Joe’s/Aldi. The relative is in Germany which has a different Logo, similar name but not the same company as in US. Basically, there are two completely different “Aldi” stores one is related but it is not the one in the US that you’re referring to as “Aldies”
