Is There Really A Hogwarts Cruise Ship?

British cruise company, The Barge Ladies, is launching a Harry Potter Magic Cruise in August. This six-day cruise will take place on the Magna Carta ship, sailing from London. The cruise will feature stops at iconic locations along the Thames River and at Harry Potter’s hangouts. The cruise is an unofficial seven-night experience aboard an eight-person barge, weaving its way along the Thames River in England.

The Discovering Hogwarts cruise will take place between May 2nd and September 4th, 2023. The cruise package includes a week-long wind down England’s River Thames, stopping at various locations. However, this Harry Potter cruise does not feature a fully decked-out boat or any other magical elements. The cruises run from August 5-11 and August 19-25.

There is a real Hogwarts cruise ship, the J.K. Rowlings yacht in Charleston, SC, with a gross tonnage of 150,000. The HMS Hogwarts is a floating castle of dreams, spanning 1,040 feet in length. The actual Harry Potter cruise is less ambitious, focusing on a river cruise up the Thames on an eight-passenger barge with some road trips to Harry’s favorite spots.

In summary, The Barge Ladies is offering a Harry Potter-themed cruise on the River Thames, bringing fans to iconic locations and stopping at Harry’s favorite hangouts.
