Is There A Cruise Line That Allows Dogs?

The Cunards Queen Mary 2 (QM2) is the only ship that allows pets on transatlantic sailings between New York and Southampton. However, this does not mean your pet will be confined to their cabin. The only cruise line with facilities for pets is Cunard Line, which only accepts fully trained service dogs on Carnival Cruise Line.

The most pet-friendly cruise line is Cunard Line, which offers dedicated kennels for dogs on its transatlantic crossings. Other major cruise lines that accept assistance dogs for people with disabilities include MSC, Costa Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruise, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Carnival.

Carnival Cruises, on the other hand, only permits working service dogs onboard their ships, which does not include service dogs in training or other service animals. Some cruise lines, such as the Cunard Queen Mary 2, Tallink Silja Line, and DFDS Mini Cruise, also allow pets.

In summary, the number of cruise lines that allow pets is extremely limited, with only Cunard Line being the most pet-friendly. Some popular destinations for pet-friendly cruises include Cunards Queen Mary 2, Tallink Silja Line, and DFDS Mini Cruise. However, it is important to note that some cruise lines may have strict policies and restrictions regarding the inclusion of pets onboard their ships.

Can dogs go on Virgin cruises?

Service Animals Virgin Voyages welcomes service dogs trained to do work and/or perform a specific task for a Sailor with a disability. Service animals are ordinarily defined as dogs individually trained to work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person’s disability including but not limited to guiding someone who is blind, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person to take prescribed medication, etc.

Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service dogs and will not be allowed on board.

Generally, Sailors with disabilities are permitted to access the ship’s public spaces accompanied by their service animals. While in public areas, service animals must be under control of their handlers. Due to health regulations, service animals are not permitted in pools, whirlpools, or spas. They are not allowed on ship furniture unless actively performing a trained task.

Is Norwegian Cruise Line pet friendly?

Norwegian Cruises. Norwegian accepts service animals under the ADA guidelines but they do not accept emotional support animals. For service dogs to board the ship, guests must provide up-to-date vaccination records as well as a USDA or International health certificate for their service dog. Guests must also bring their own food, medication, and life jacket for their service dogs as Norwegian does not provide these items. Norwegian’s detailed policy is available on their Accessibility Assistance site.

Disney Cruise Lines. Lastly, Disney Cruise Lines permits service animals onboard their ships that are in control and on a leash at all times. There are some areas that service animals are not permitted such as the pool or other wet areas, and service animals are not allowed to be left alone in their room. The cruise line accepts no responsibility for feeding and caring for the service animal, so guests must plan to bring dog food, toys, and other necessities. Additionally, Disney Cruise requires that all permits and documentation, including those for each of the ports of call, be submitted prior to the sale date. For more information, check out the Disney Cruise and Service Animals Policy.

Conclusion. While the policies may differ slightly on where service animals are permitted and what documentation is required, all of these cruise lines need to know in advance if there will be a service animal onboard, sometimes as much as 30 days prior to sailing. It is your responsibility to bring all of the documentation you need, not only for the ship but for the various ports as well. Nonetheless, each of these companies has representatives available who would be happy to assist you!

Do some cruise ships allow dogs?

It’s a dream of a lot of regular cruisers, says Cheri Port, ‎Travel Designer atTully Luxury Travel, a top seller worldwide of luxury cruises. “It is hard for some people to be without their pets during a long voyage such as a world cruise, and passengers with pets would love it.” But the reality is there’s only one pet-friendly cruise ship:Cunard Line’s Queen Mary 2.

A kennel on board has been a long-standing tradition on Cunard’s flagship during trans-Atlantic voyages and there’s always been more demand than space available. That’s why Cunard has just doubled the capacity of the kennels in the recentRemastering of QM2.

Cruise ships in general don’t allow any kind of pets. That’s mainly because there’s so much red tape involved that Cunard only offers a kennel on one of this three ships. Even at that, pets are only allowed on QM2’s trans-Atlantic crossings, explained Robert Roughton, Cunard’s specialist in kennel operations.
