Is The Regatta In Massachusetts Taking Place Today?

The Head of the Charles Regatta, a storied Boston tradition, takes place from Friday, October 20th to Sunday, October 22nd. The event is held annually on the next-to-last complete weekend in October and features over 50 races. The 58th Head of the Charles Regatta will be held in Boston, starting on Friday and running through Sunday.

The 2022 Head of the Charles Regatta, hosted by Chris W. Thompson, kicks off Friday morning with an extra day of racing. Over 11,000 rowers will compete in the annual event in Boston. The event has been canceled last year due to coronavirus restrictions, but returns this weekend with an extra day of racing.

Rowing takes place almost every weekend starting in late March through the end of May, hosted by the Quinsigamond Rowing Association. Each year, at least six races take place. The Armada Cup, a 1xs only race, starts at the Mass Ave bridge and runs upstream to Weld and back to Riverside.

The Head of the Charles Regatta has brought thousands of rowers to the Charles River since 1965. The Flip Flop Regatta is one of the largest New England regattas of the season, a pursuit style race starting in Broad. BYC members compete at all levels of the US Sailing and World Championships.

The Ted Hood Regatta will take place in Marblehead on August 16th – 18th, 2024. The event calendar offers upcoming sailing classes and social events for rowers and spectators alike.
