Is St Petersburg Russia Open To Cruise Ships?

Since 2020, foreign cruise tourists visiting Russia via Port St Petersburg are required to have E-Visas (single-entry visas) issued via government.ru. These visas are valid for 30 days and allow MSC Cruises, which had four ships scheduled to call in St. Petersburg starting this May, to suspend all Russian stops. Royal Caribbean has issued an advisory to guests who wish to tour St. Petersburg, Russia, on their own, requiring them to have an E-visa. The port authority in St. Petersburg prohibits independent tour operators from entering the port for 90 minutes after a ship docks in St. Petersburg. Carnival Cruise Line, Windstar, and Atlas Ocean Voyages were some of the first big names to announce that they scrapped all stops in St. Petersburg.

The port is located on Vasilevsky Island, approximately 8.5km from the defined center of St. Petersburg. Norwegian Cruise Line is removing planned stops in St. Petersburg, Russia, from its 2022 sailings, along with Odesa, Ukraine. The port’s infrastructure can handle the most modern cruise ships in the world.
