Is Fiji cheap or expensive?

Fiji is generally an expensive destination, but it can be more affordable by staying in budget-friendly accommodations and splurging on activities. Private island resorts can be expensive, with food and transport costs escalating. Instead, staying in a hostel or hotel on Viti Levu and taking day trips to private island beach clubs or resorts can provide more value for money. Ferry rides are an ideal option for travelers to islands like Ovalau, Vanua Levu, and Taveuni, as they are typically cheaper than domestic flights.

However, ferry timetables can be unpredictable and weather-dependent. When booking your trip outside of Australia and New Zealand school holidays, it can be beneficial to book your trip outside of these times, as accommodations tend to increase during peak season and Christmas time.

  • My son and family went to Fiji his 2 year old boy was having the best time, and had his own nanny that he love the second he sad her he loved and sat in her lap it’s the vibe that attracts the tribe The first thing they do in the morning is call my grandson name out and he would have the biggest smile knowing that his going to have a ball he loves dancing and Fijian are the most humble loving friendly, caring and kind, they love from their heart and you can feel the warm tender love they have for everyone no matter where you go in Fiji it’s beautiful. my son only went for 10 days and now wants to buy a home there

  • Just extra information for you. You will never need a air conditioner if you in a Bure. A bure is a traditional house built to its traditional style where is the weather is cold the Bure will be warm but if the weather is hot the Bure will be cool. It’s roof is woven in a way to counter weather pattern.

  • I will recommend Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort. It’s a very beautiful resort at Denarau Island. Night clubs are nearby for nighters and a peaceful place for vacation. I have worked here last year as a chef and let me tell you food is great and so is the staffs. Everyone’s enjoyment and satisfaction was considered before they opened the resort in Feb 2022. I was one of the Pre-opening team. I am proud of gaining my experience there.

  • Hey Family. The flight I’m sure a lengthy experience. Enjoyed both of your resorts for different reasons. Wonderful reminder about sun exposure while on the jet skis. Love your to the point articles. Figi, Maldives, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Italy, Spain, Greece, France and more on my bucket list. I see now I traveled too often to the Caribbean. There’s a whole world out there to see and my time is running out. So truly appreciate vlogs such as yours. Thanks for sharing and see you next article.

  • Having been to Fiji many times I feel that the info you provided is a little “light” and not too comprehensive. For starters, Nadi is pronounced “Nandee”. Secondly, resorts on the main island are very westernised and do not really represent the real Fiji. Instead, highly recommend the Mamanuca or Yasawa Islands which are both a chain of island to the west of Fiji. These are far, far nicer that those big concrete resorts on the mainland, and the beaches, people, and surroundings much more “Fiji”. The JMC resort you did visit was close to the mark, but is a overly polished (westernised) version of the island resorts. Lastly, I noticed you were sponsored by Fiji airways, which is why you conveniently only mentioned them and their partner airlines. There are stacks of other airlines which should be considered. Ultimately, Fiji is about the people, and we have noticed that the “real Fiji” is far better experienced on one of the smaller Islands. Families should try Malolo Island Resort or Castaway Resort (part of the Mamanuca Islands – pronounced “Mamanutha” – C is pronounced as “th” in Fiji) which are far more “Fijian” than the JMC resort that you visited). Keep up the travels and reviews.

  • A lovely article, thank you for the lovely insight. I just want to ask what kind of microphone you are using, I have seen it been clipped onto your husband t-shirt in one of the clip. It is really clear, are you also a clipped on microphone? Can you please help me because I am buying a lot of microphone which does not work with my phone.
