Is It Possible To Travel During A Lockdown For Mental Health Reasons?

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted mental health, with an increase in anxiety and depression globally. This has led to lockdown skeptics worldwide, including in the UK and the US, questioning the psychological impact of lockdowns. However, the psychological impact of lockdowns is small and highly heterogeneous, suggesting that lockdowns do not have uniformly detrimental effects on mental health.

The pandemic has fuelled feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and fears for the future for many people. Experts suggest that there are things that can be done to give ourselves a lift during this time. Worldwide surveys in 2020 and 2021 found higher than typical levels of stress, insomnia, anxiety, and depression. Travel stressors can cause preexisting psychiatric disorders to recur, latent or undiagnosed problems to become apparent, and new problems to arise.

The CDC uses Travel Health Notices (THNs) to inform travelers about global health risks during outbreaks, special events, gatherings, and natural disasters. The EEOC enforces workplace anti-discrimination laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act.

When traveling, it is important to follow safety tips for flying, driving, and staying at hotels. As more people travel, it is crucial to determine whether you have gotten the COVID-19 vaccine. British people with mental health needs, their families, and carers should also be aware of the risks associated with traveling or living abroad.

I am a school teacher who was bitten by the travel bug many decades ago. My husband Billy has come along for the ride and now shares my dream to travel the world with our three children. The kids Pollyanna, 13, Cooper, 12 and Tommy 9 are in love with plane trips (thank goodness) and discovering new places, experiences and of course Disneyland.

  • Hello BBC Africa 🙋🏾‍♀️ from the U.S.A.🇺🇸. I truly admire my educated brothers and sisters in Africa 🌍. But, black people throughout the world need to really love on each other since alot of people outside our race don’t have a real love for us!(smh). Even, The Body of Christ, as a whole need to love on each other more during this pandemic. Some people are racist toward blacks, Hispanics, and Native Americans. And, some are not. Much love to those who are not full of racism and hatred ❤️. And, much love to all my black brothers and sisters in Africa, Haiti, and anywhere in the world 🌍
