What is included in priority mail?
Priority Mail items are First-Class Mail items weighing more than 13 ounces and any other material weighing 13 ounces or less. The weight limit for these items is 70 lbs. and the maximum size is 108 inches in combined length and girth. The Priority Mail Flat-Rate Box is priced at $8. 95 regardless of weight, contents, or distance traveled, while the Priority Mail Flat-Rate Envelope is priced at $4. 60.
Priority Mail dimensional-weight pricing is based on the cubic capacity of a package, converting the cubic size of a mailpiece into a dimensional weight. This pricing aligns Priority Mail prices with the costs of shipping these items by air, based on a standard issued by the International Air Transport Associations (IATA). Other commercial carriers also use this standard to determine prices for packages shipped by air.
📹 How To Ship USPS Priority Mail
If you haven’t noticed we like to ship things! So why not help other people ship packages using USPS Priority Mail? One of the …
The medium “flat rate” box you showed was actually a “mailing box” which goes by weight & distance. USPS clerk right here! Took me a while to learn everything but once you learn it it’s easy! If you’re shipping within your state I’d recommend a “mailing box” rather than a flat rate, the pricing will be cheaper! Also the weight limit is 70 pounds even on the flat rates 🙂
The one thing that I have a issue with is using the flat rate boxes and envelopes for international shipments. The any weight one rate thing is just out the window… it starts at 24.95 but that is to Canada or Mexico… over seas is 36.95 and Australia is 56.95 and that is for the small packages. Oh and moreover the any weight under 70lbs drops to under 4lbs. Now that is a huge difference. The last box I sent to Australia was a small flat rate box and the cost was 76.95 because it was 4.9lbs SMH Read the fine print. And don’t think that is for something like overnight service. That is it gets there when it gets there.
This may be a stupid question (I’ve never shipped anything before), but does anyone know if you need stamps/labels etc for this? I’ve got both the “To:” and “From:” addresses written on the box and the box closed and taped closed. Is that ready to be shipped out or do I need to get anything else first?
Ok so I am actually very anxious haha idky I just have never done this before so I don’t want to feel embarrassed while being there lol so if you could just answer these questions, regular yellow envelope or priority mail doesn’t matter correct, like that is MY preference not where it’s going to right? Also, if I don’t have an envelope with me, I can go grab one at a post office and I have to already have the shipping address info in order to fill the info over there right? I just don’t know whether the worker can help me there haha
the small box she is showing is $7.99 priority mail the big box is about I think is $11.99 .You have to go to the post office find out the prices other wise you will lose money on the shipping.Priority mail xpress is more expensive.Priority flat rate envelope is $6.99 the other flat rate envelope is padded is $7.99.Good Luck
Good morning I have a small consultation like when you stop a shipment ?, And presented some inconveniences with the seller informed me that I would deny the shipment but I still appear “In transit” And his estimated time of arrival was yesterday, I even have other shipments and notify me that they will be delayed by bad weather weather but in the other package only appears “In transit” … MY QUESTION IS WHAT MESSAGE APPEARS WHEN A SHIPMENT IS STOPPED?
wait please please ! only one minute we seriously need your advice … we are from Georgia (country) we sent reference ( reference that my brother-in-law is not arrested in past ) and now . this post mail(package) in road . we need expres service(fast send) we are difficult situation now . (i cant tell you about this now . sorry for my English) what can we do for this. how much is it ?
I am a new Etsy seller. I just made a sale for some small light weight crocheted items. I have small bubble mailers I can use but the client selected priority mail shipping. Can I still use my small basic bubble mailers and buy a priority mail label? I’m so confused. Help please! These items are very light but not thin so the small mailer is ideal. No need for a box
Meh, USPS has tripled in price on their packages in the last dozen years. Other bad things about their service: mail with stamps above 13 ounces require you submit the package at the post office in person. Their newest mailboxes for regular mail don’t allow for anything larger than thin envelopes. Also USPS charges a lot of money for minimal insurance included with Priority Mail or Express Mail. Whenever you send something by regular Priority Mail (not flat rate) if it is being sent far away it could cost a bundle. Best deal is Media Mail yet only qualifying items apply for that rate. Also one cannot send them packages heavier than 70 pounds with USPS. If you do send a 70 pound package it is nearly guaranteed they will not handle it well and the contents likely will get damaged. Regional Rate A & B Priority Boxes limits you to just 20 pounds. International bound Small Flat Rate Boxes limit you to 4 pounds weight and Medium Flat Rate Boxes only 10 Pounds weight. The private sector needs to be allowed to compete with USPS to provide better service at lower rates for all classes of mail.
I know this article is old, but I hope you’re still around 🙁 I just opened a Mercari account and made my first sale, and now I’m lost. I did the option where the site will send me a prepaid label, and I ordered some USPS flat rate boxes. Then what? Do I just put the label on and put it in my mailbox or do I have to take it to the post office? Mercari is supposed to add the shipping onto the price of the item so the buyer pays, not me.
Hey I just sold my ps3 console with a 24 games and a 2 controllers, my question is what is the difference between the large flat rate box and the one that is called larger package fro priority mail. I’m asking because I don’t want to pay 17 bucks For the flat rate when the other option is 10 dollars and 30 cents.
Thank you for your article! I just have a question. I sent a 10×13 envelope (2oz) about 3 weeks ago, my friend hasn’t received it yet. I firgured out that I didn’t put enough stamps on it. Therefore, I tried to send another one with 4 stamps on last Tuesday but my friend still hasn’t got it. I wonder if I did something wrong.I think I will try to send my documents with USPS Priority Mail. I’m going to print a shipping label on Stamps.com and use USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelopes. Can I just drop my envelope in the USPS blue mailbox or I have to go to the post office? Thank you so much!
Hi I have two questions, so if I write in the shipping label hand written with my ow bought envelope for clothes do I still need a stamp? Or is me handwriting in the addresses on the package enough? Also, if I where to for example send a t shirt or hoodie would it be cheaper to send it thru the USPS boxes or just use my own ( this is with the shipping price of course)? I’m new at this and high key don’t know what I’m doing lol.
Quick question when I tracked my package it said it was held at the post office and then when I tracked it again the next day it said it was delivered does this mean usps re delivered it to my po box after 15 days or does this mean it got delivered to the sender after 15 days because I contacted usps and they said that packages are held for 15 days and then are returned to the sender after 15 days but I just want to know if it says delivered in the tracking after 15 days does that mean usps redivided it to my po box or does that mean it got delivered to the sender
I don’t know if anyone can help me but I need to ship something in the #2 Medium box, they are 2 items and fit JUST right long ways into the box, the only issue is that its not fitting almost all the way. I can bend the tabs to bend at a different angle and not ruin the items as it ships but will USPS still accept it if its not the “correct folding”, but a little bit longer. I don’t mean, like the items are sticking out one inch but a few centimeters out of the main box. Would it be okay if I put more tape or will USPS decline to ship it since its longer than the box is said to be. Thank you!
Not Too improved. I have a package sent eight days ago and the tracking tells me Nothing except that it left El Paso two days ago. 4:45 A.M. two days ago and it couldn’t travel 50 miles. I went to my Local post office to get help since it has been Eight days since my package was sent from California to New Mexico but he couldn’t help. He put in the tracking number and got the Same message as me……….left El Paso, in transit but don’t know Where. I contacted usps……no help what so ever. Priority mail isn’t such a good service when the package can’t be located.
you give them the box and they what? im tryna send some stuff to another country. All i got from this vid it to get a box for your items, package the items, and i dont know where the lables are because now you print lables and you attatch it to the box/envelopes. Like do you have to pay to ship something to another country? Are you suppose to have insurance? What happens if you dont pay? Does the person you are sending it to have to pay it? Lifes hard when you know no one who can help you with something so confusing. Now and days i have to rely on the internet to teach me things cause my parents dont know nothing about the world. Currently i gain most of my info on the internet and most of it doesnt cover up everything. Someone help plzz
Why is this so hard? i have the label and the item i want to ship but no priner or box. Does the usps give me the box and the free printed label? how do yall have so many boxes and packages 🙁 it says online i can but i have no ide ahow to do it i have no idea how to find out and no one online seems to be able to help me :(((
Another question sorry, so for example let’s say I sell a shirt or hoodie on mercari and the customer pays for shipping separately from the item, how do I myself let the USPS people know the shipping was paid already if I’m handwriting all the Info in? Would u say to just offer free shipping instead and add the shipping within the price to make it easier or is there another way? (By Handwriting the info on the package )
I don’t mean to sound negative but this is useless. I mean its great you went over the options, but how do I actually get a label to ship my medium flat rate box? the usps website is insanely overly complicated for 1st time users. seriously. Ive never done this before and im simply looking to make my own label so I don’t have to stand is this god awful line on a Saturday. do you have a article that shows how to create a label ?
