How do you get bottled water on a cruise?

For convenience, guests can purchase bottled water prior to the cruise and it will be delivered to the stateroom on embarkation day. Bottled water may also be purchased on board by contacting room service. Once on board, the purchase is non-refundable and guests may take home any unopened bottles.

Proper travel documentation is required at embarkation and throughout the cruise. Even though a guest has completed registration using Online Check-in, it is still the responsibility of the guest to present the required travel documents at the time of embarkation. Guests should check with their travel agent and/or government authority to determine the travel documents necessary for each port of call. Any guest without proper documents will not be allowed to board the vessel and no refund of the cruise fare will be issued. Carnival assumes no responsibility for advising guests of proper travel documentation.

Except where it is a mandatory requirement, Carnival highly recommends that all guests travel with a passport book. The passport book must be valid for at least six months beyond the completion of travel. This will enhance the debarkation experience as delays may be expected upon return to the United States for those without one. Additionally, this will enable guests to fly from the United States to meet their ship at a foreign port should they miss their scheduled port of embarkation and allow guests who must disembark the ship before their cruise ends, due to an emergency, to fly back to the United States without significant delays and complications.

For cruises that begin and end in the same U.S port, the following WHTI-compliant documents are acceptable for cruise travel. Please note that if the cruise visits Colombia or Greenland, a passport book(valid for at least six months beyond the completion of travel) is required. A passport card with the same validity is also acceptable for cruises to Colombia.

Can I refill my water bottle on a cruise?

If you would like to pack a reusable water bottle with you on the ship, you are welcome to ask a Cast Member at a beverage station for cups of water and ice with which to fill it. You are allowed to take your reusable water bottles off the ship when you are in port to stay nice and hydrated.

Alternatively, you may purchase water bottles onboard or even bring your own disposable water bottles with you on the ship, as long as they are unopened and in your carry-on luggage only. Of course, I understand if you’d prefer a reusable water bottle, especially the type that can keep drinks cold for an extended period of time. I just want you to know that you have many options! I always love to recommend that guests pack a swimsuit, sunscreen, and hat in their carry-on luggage as well to be able to cool off in the pool and enjoy the sunshine soon after boarding.

If you have any other questions about what items are allowed onboard the Disney Cruise Line, there is a handy reference list I’ll link to here. And if you have any other questions about anything at all, please visit us again. We’d love to help make your voyage as magical as possible.

Do cruise ships charge for bottled water?

Cruise Ship Beverage Packages Bottled water generally runs $3-$6 a bottle and surprisingly is included in the “premium” higher priced beverage package.

I had the typical GenX childhood with public water fountains and the trusty garden hose in the neighborhood as my source of water when I was thirsty. In grade school, we had scheduled breaks to line up at the water fountain but otherwise I don’t remember being thirsty. We rarely drank water growing up as a beverage, our family was a Kool Aid family with Tang if there was a coupon. We didn’t drink soda much at that time either, if we did it was a local soda, Frank’s Cola or Root Beer. Coca Cola was a special occasion beverage. Pepsi was my addiction once I started working in restaurants.

I lived life without being tied to a water bottle for nearly three decades. Now I can’t leave the house without a bottle of water (or refillable bottle) in my purse, car and gym bag. It’s the same when I travel. I long gave up my Pepsi addiction and now primarily drink water all day. I’ve learned how to ask for local tap water in a few languages to avoid the tourist trap expensive bottle of water default restaurants have. I know its cheaper to walk to the back of the shop or market to find the bottled water for much less than the chilled bottles at the front of the store. But if a cruise vacation is on your agenda, things can get tricky and expensive quickly so you need to plan accordingly.

As a traveler, I’ve found Facebook groups can be good sources of information but also a crazy judgmental space. For the love of Christmas please google your query first lest the keyboard warriors scare you off. Bottled water is the one question that will trigger the group like no other I’ve seen (bring your own snacks is a close second). I’d love to say – I think drinking coffee is dumb – why is there a Starbucks onboard when there’s free coffee available?
