  • It was similar to when I immigrated from the US to Britain. We had to go to Chicago with all our documents. Since I was marrying a British man I had met in Australia, we had to provide proof that we had met in Australia and photographs to prove we had a real relationship. Luckily we were only a 3 and a half hour drive from Chicago, but it did feel like something out of the movies, having all these questions asked about how and when we met, it was quite surreal.

  • Thank you for your informative article. I am from Luxembourg and I have been interested in Greenland for quite a while. The idea of living in a place, where you never experience heat waves, where you get actual winters with lots of snow, where you have nature at your doorstep and where you can live in a small and relatively quiet city with fascinating landscapes that can still offer you everything you need sounds fascinating. On top of that, from what I have heard, Greenlanders seem to be very welcoming and I really like how their language (Kalaallisut) sounds. I definitely need to visit Greenland, which would include Nuuk and maybe also Qaqortoq. As far as job opportunities are concerned, do you know if electrical engineers are in high demand in Greenland, preferably in Nuuk (I am currently studying EE)? I assume that Tusass or Nukissiorfiit would be some interesting candidates.

  • Hey Alex, would you mind getting a little bit into the food situation you’re facing in greenland? From what I’ve heard the food is real special and coming from Germany I’m afraid I would starve over in Greenland. I’m actually thinking about moving to greenland to become a pilot. It’s my dream job and I’m 100% willing to relocate to make that dream come true. From what I read so far the biggest challenge would be learning the language but I think I’d be able to pick that up rather quickly. My biggest worry really is whether I can stomach the greenlandic cuisine 😀

  • No doubt dude… I had a friend here in Denver who went to Greenland. He had to go to San Francisco to apply & do biometrics, wait for approval, then had to fly from Denver to an East Coast city, then all the way to Denmark then backwards to Greenland, and vice versa on his way back to Denver. He liked what he saw, but he wouldn’t go through all that again. I don’t think that’s the kind of tourist economy at Greenland wants. I don’t know who’s issue it is, Denmark or Greenland, really matter which one is holding things up, but it’s ludicrous the hoops that everybody else has to jump through while Nordic countries for some unknown reason get preference; sounds somewhat elitist, and or discriminatory to me, but so be it. All I know is Greenland is really shooting itself in the foot since America is among, if not the most secure, largest & most capable investor & developer in the world. You gotta make it easier for Americans and Canadians to get into Greenland. Especially since I would imagine Greenland would love American tourist dollars.

  • Can you please research the current law and provide an updated article about permanent residence in Greenland? For example, do they tax permanent residents or citizens on income earned outside Greenland/Denmark? How many days can a tourist or legal resident stay there in a calendar year without becoming subject to the income-tax system? What is the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate on restaurants, groceries, taxi rides, and lodging? How many people speak English? Or German? THANK YOU. I’m a new subscriber 🙂

  • Appreciate the article. What’s the financial sector like there? Are there mortgage companies or banks or anything regarding real estate? I work in the mortgage business and do not have a college degree. However, here in the U.S. – I still get job offers left & right constantly as there isn’t many people my age (late 20’s) that does my job. I wonder if there would be some demand within the financial sector there? Thanks!

  • I want to live in Greenland so what can I do,I have 20 years and I open to every job that can give me a place, food and do tourism,i don’t care what kind of job it is I just want lo leave my country méxico and do my life in a cold place,is there job for a person like me with empty hands and good vibes, the only thing maybe buy a iPad Pro every 3 years xD
