In Civilization VI, a cultural victory is achieved by attracting more foreign visitors to your nation than the highest domestic tourist number of a rival civilization. To achieve this, players must establish attractions throughout their civilization that generate tourism, which is shown beside their gold total. Relics can be obtained from Apostles that die, museums full of works, theming bonuses, high-appearance land and culture bonus tiles, and national parks. Open borders and trade routes to foreign countries are also essential for generating tourism.
To achieve a cultural victory, players must build up enough tourism that forces the cultures of other countries to be replaced. This can be achieved through various methods, such as generating tourism through relics, holy cities, religious works of art, and visiting other cities. To achieve a cultural victory, players must discover new civilizations to project their tourism attractions to, such as shared or conflicting late game governments, open borders, great works housed in their civilization, holy cities, and relics.
To increase the rate of tourism, players can establish open borders with other players, have active trade routes with them, and use various strategies. A proper guide on how to win the Culture Victory, earn Foreign and Domestic Tourists, and explain how tourism works and how culture affects it is recommended. Players must explore the map as soon as possible and continue to explore the map until they know every civilization to generate tourism against.

How to get tourism victory in civ 6?
A Culture Victory is determined by the number of Foreign Tourists visiting a civilization, specifically from outside the game. To win, one must have a higher number of Foreign Tourists than any opponent’s count of Domestic Tourists. Domestic Tourists are earned by generating Culture, and each point of Tourism gives progress towards Foreign Tourists with each civilization you’ve met. Getting a single Foreign Tourist requires 200 Tourism for each player, including yourself. On larger maps with more players, more Tourism is needed to get Foreign Tourists, but more should be obtained when reaching the threshold.
What provides tourism Civ 6?
Tourism in Civilization VI is a key statistic that represents a civilization’s cultural appeal to foreign civilizations. It can be divided into General Tourism, which is provided by Great Works, Wonders, improvements, and certain buildings, and Religious Tourism, which is provided by the Holy City of the established religion. Tourism can apply steady pressure to other civilizations that the player has already met, attracting tourists to various sources of tourism in their lands and potentially leading to a Cultural Victory.
For Cultural Victories, pressure from Tourism is applied to civilizations from the moment they meet them, making exploration, meeting all civilizations, and having them in the game crucial for achieving a Cultural Victory.

The game involves attacking opposing religious units, spreading religion, evangelizing belief, and starting inquisition. Apostles start with two random Promotions, with the Mont St. Michel wonder granting the Martyr promotion for free. However, there is a possible bug where Inquisitions cannot be started even with 2 remaining charges. Evangelize Belief requires 3 charges but consumes all charges and removes the unit if more are obtained from a promotion.
How to spread tourism in civ 6?
To win in a game, you need to increase tourism rates by establishing open borders, active trade routes, using various civics, and using Rock Bands to generate instant hits. This process is slow, as each turn you generate more tourism, your opponents generate more culture. What is the most broken civ in civ 6?
Babylon is typically regarded as a flawed and unsuitable component within the context of multiplayer (MP) gameplay, unless it is subjected to a comprehensive rebalancing process through the utilisation of a dedicated modification (mod). This is largely attributed to the fact that, within this particular tier, there is a dearth of alternatives that can effectively address the inherent shortcomings of Babylon.

The tiles must be natural wonders, mountains, or tiles with an Appeal of Charming or better, owned by the same city, and form a vertical diamond shape. How does tourism work in civ v?
Tourism is a crucial strategy in the game, as it automatically spreads the fame of your civilization’s culture to other civilizations. To achieve a Cultural Victory, it is essential to meet all civilizations you have already met and influence them early. Each civilization’s influence is tracked separately, and the score is formed by your basic Tourism output, modified by special conditions. The presence of these conditions adds a +25 bonus to the Tourism each turn, which increases to +40 once you adopt Cultural Exchange from the Aesthetics policy tree.
How can I make tourism good?
To create an innovative tourism experience, add a unique element, offer authentic, local experiences, help customers get the best of both worlds, make the most of your location when designing your tour, and analyze your market to find service gaps. Many tour companies have cornered emerging markets, such as Japan Halal Day Tours, which offers food tours for Muslim tourists and explores their roots. By leveraging these opportunities, tour companies can capitalize on the growing interest in discovering their roots and offer unique experiences to their customers.
To find your own niche, consider creating a new tour for one segment of your market and focus on providing the best possible experience for your customers. 📹 Civilization VI In-Depth: Tourism and Culture Victories
Edit: I did miss one of the tourism modifiers. Reyna’s tier 3 ability, curator, doubles tourism from all great works in a city, something …
It’s important to note that usually there will not be that much tundra present (Cold temperature setting). And even if there is, on higher difficulties AI might still snatch Dance of the Aurora with a civ that also gets an early Faith source. Also, I would suggest using Theocracy for the 15% discount on all Faith purchases. This applies both to settlers bought with Monumentality, and to Rock Bands / Naturalists. Nice guide!
My approach for culture victories has been to lean in heavily on economy and ramp up my gold-per-turn. You still do the wonder+district stuff, but because other civs – including ones geared towards culture – will sell their great works to you, you can essentially pay another civ to lower their own culture/tourism by emptying out their library of works. It also helps theming, as you can just shop around between the civs and ensure you get artworks/artifacts from different artists/eras.
This is very similar to my strategy when playing Mali – only in the desert (which is even less contested, AI just shys away from it). You build a couple of holy site & Suguba knots in the desert and by yourself through the entire game while having good production via Work Ethic despite Mali’s production penalty. With Sundiata Keita you can also just shift great writings to any city that needs more production.
Great article. You have a nice smooth easy to understand voice. I am Canadian and for a Diplo victory get Mahabodhi Temple ( easy with religion ) and Statue of Liberty ( start by coast ). Potala Palace and you have half the victory points sown up. I am going to try a hybrid now as I don’t always use a religion with my guy. One thing worth noting is that Shrines and Temples have a maintenance cost and you need a good cash flow to afford them. Not always easy to get that. If you have time to do a Diplomatic and Science victory I would appreciate that.
A small tip for rock bands: The first time you purchase them, you get to choose a promotion. If there’s any district-specialized promotions, choose them and give concerts in only those districts. If you manage to upgrade them to level 3, their chance to retire the band is lowered to 9%. Just like that, I managed to preserve 2 special rock bands till the end of the game, and I wasn’t even playing as Russia lol
Im fairly new to civ entirely and am absolutely terrorizing the AI on prince difficulty with organizing my great works to be themed, and min/maxing the hell out of the rock bands. It’s really easy to get them to last longer. Just pay attention to promotions and name them accordingly. Also, spam the ever loving shit out of spies/traders/ & envoys. I’m at nearly 1.5k culture and 900 tourism on turn 260. My army is non-existent, but I am maxed out on civil tree at turn 240. Oh. And I did this with Greece.
This strategy works for literally every. single. Victory type die to the production alone. That early game +12 production on cities with ONE population effectively eliminates any need to spend production on any food related tile. This faith adjacency buffoonery also allows you time purchase an ungodly amount of missionaries. Spam 10 missionaries on the whole world. Effectively making any city built part of your religion. Passive faith income. Use apostles for +1 science for every 4 followers of the religion. Remember. This is also allowing you to spam whatever districts you choose. Culture. Economic. Science. Etc. What’s even crazier is the grandmasters chapel. You can take your 1000+ faith per turn to purchase military units. This means you can churn out roughly 2 units a turn at any city of your choice. (Forward operating base anyone). This effectively removes all logistics needed for a defensive war. “Oh no! My (x) soldier just died! Guess I’ll have to spawn two more at the nearest cities!” This strategy combined with void-singers = guaranteed culture victory with the monuments. Owls of Minerva = guaranteed diplomatic victory. Use faith to send settlers to settle directly next to city states. Effectively making them yours. Use that production for kilwa. Boom. 15% yield on the 15 fucking city states you own. (Which you can spam military units to with your faith) It’s insane. I’ve literally cheesed diety with this strat and won all victories almost simultaneously.
The one thing this doesn’t account for is the fact that if you follow this strat, you need to restart the whole game if someone declares war. Which is inevitable past Emperor, no matter how friendly you are. Also, there’s no guarantee you’ll start in a Tundra. basically, you’re at the mercy of RNG with this strat that you start perfectly and don’t get an AI going for a domination victory.
So, essentially you have no clue. Dont go about talking about how Magnus X2 is great for “the fastest expansion possible” – its not. What you do is get 4x Moksha, as that lets you instabuy districts from those faith purchased settled cities, and keep fuelling the faith economy. Also 4x Moksha is useful the whole game, while 2x Magnus is a waste of two governor slots.
