How To Become An Acreditied Coach For Sailing Wa?

Australian Sailing is the national body for the sport of sailing in Australia, offering technical courses for coaches of different levels and disciplines. To become a qualified sailing coach, one must complete the Instructor General Principles, hold a current Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003 or above), hold a current maritime license, or state equivalent, and hold an Australian Sailing Powerboat Handling Certificate.

To gain an ICC within Australia, one can achieve it by completing an ICC test on the water comprising practical and theory components. To reaccredit their Sailing Coach qualification, attend one day of an existing Sailing Coach course. The course is delivered by Australian Sailing accredited Senior Coaches and allows the Sailing Coach to coach Green, Intermediate, and Advanced levels.

Northwest Sailing Centers offer ASA classes in Kirkland, WA, and after completing certifications, individuals can join the Club which includes the use of their boats on both. The Sailing Academy supports all its sailors and offers courses for beginners through to international level.

SoPYC hosts three Australian Sailing Accreditation Courses, including the Sailing Coach Australian Sailing Course run at SoPYC Keelboat. Anyone 18 years of age or older is required to hold a valid SafeSport certificate for their US Sailing instructor certification to be valid.

The 40-hour training course is crammed into four intense days, with Level One candidates showing proficiency in both sailing and teaching techniques, plus power.
