Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has raised their gratuity fees effective January 2023, affecting passengers in interior, oceanview, balcony cabins, and Club cabins. Tip amounts for butlers and concierges vary depending on the type of stateroom booked, with Butler: 10-15 per person per day, Concierge: 5-10 per person per day, and Steward (covered by the DSC): 5-10 per person.
Guests tend to tip between 100 and 300 per week for their butler, but if they don’t use them much, don’t worry about tipping a lower amount. On Celebrity, the recommended tip for the butler is 3.50 per passenger per day. However, Celebrity butlers seem to combine what NCL concierge and butler into one person.
When asked, guests typically tip a butler 15-20 per person per day, while concierges are generally 10-15 per day. Tipping for Butler and room stewards is also recommended, as they are part of the daily service.
Norwegian Cruise Line automatically charges gratuities, with guests typically tipping 100 upon meeting the butler. The normal gratuity is 13.50 for non-suites and 15.50 for suites per person per day, split between the entire ships.
Guests staying in suites generally up their steward tip to about 6, if those suites also offer butler service. Often, superior service is received and gratuities can be increased to perhaps 5.50 pp,d. On back-to-back cruises, guests tip at the mid-point and at the end.
The amount of gratuity varies by cruise line, with amounts ranging from 10 to 15 per person per day, with higher gratuities for butlers and concierges.
