How Fast Is The Glider Yacht?

Glider Yachts is set to launch the 60ft Glider Super Sports 18 (SS18) at the London On-Water Yacht and Boat Show on May 4-7. The Hyper Sports version will have triple the horsepower and reach a top speed over 96 knots. Only three Gliders will be built this year, with hull lengths of up to 265ft and maximum speed of 87 knots. The SS18 prototype is the first in three yacht ranges from Glider Yachts, with next glider models planned to be designed much larger and faster with hull lengths of up to 265ft and maximum speed of 87 knots.

The SS18 prototype features a drag-racer steering wheel, racing throttles for the four 225kW supercharged Yamaha engines, and high-tech, touchscreen Garmin helm consoles. The SCS tunes the yacht to the sea conditions, allowing it to glide over waves at speeds of up to 56 knots, making it one of the fastest superyachts. The Hyper Sports 18 packs an even more powerful 3,420 BHP, which translate into 96 knots.

Glider Yachts is also developing a 3,400-hp Hypersport version, the HS18, with two engines and two turbines combining for up to 96 knots (178 kmh) and an estimated 3.5 knots. The company aims to make luxury boats that go faster and more efficiently.
