How Far Is Walk From Cruise Port To Punda?

The Rifort bridge in Curaçao is a beautiful and iconic landmark that leads to Punda, the capital city of Curacao. On Thursday evenings, live music and traditional dancers can be enjoyed in the old town, making it an ideal time to explore. A self-guided walking tour of Willemstad offers a colorful mix of character and charm, starting in western Otrobanda. Curaçao is a walkable destination rich with history, and cruise ships can dock at one of two terminals (Mega Pier Cruise Terminal and Mathey Wharf) which are both within walking distance to the main attractions of Willemstad.

Curaçao is also walkable from the cruise port, Berth 46, which is only 14 minutes away. However, it is not possible to reach any of the beaches in the city. The cruise terminal is located at Dock Gate 4 to 3839, and there is a marked walkway but it is a long walk.

For those traveling from Liverpool Cruise Terminal to Liverpool One, it is a 1-mile or 20-minute walk to the city center or Casemates Square. From there, it is approximately 1 mile 1.5 km walk to Gibraltar’s main square. On the cruise dock, there is a small cruise terminal. Vancouver is a very pedestrian-friendly city, and the cruise port guide for Gibraltar provides information on where your ship docks, how to get from the port into the city, maps, bus, and shuttle services.

How long does it take to get off a cruise ship and go through customs?

Anyone who has their bags offloaded by the ship’s porters will be called to leave the vessel according to their designated luggage tag color or number; the tags are usually distributed a couple of days before the end of the voyage. In those cases, passengers can disembark any time after their color or number is called but not before. From start to finish, the process usually takes about two to three hours, depending on the size of the ship.

Every ship has scheduled a time that it’s due to be in each port it visits. Anything from weather to mechanical issues can affect the actual arrival time. Assuming a ship remains punctual, the time at which passengers can disembark depends on how long it takes for local authorities to clear the vessel.

How do you get to shore from a cruise ship?

While it’s true that some mega-ships are designed as destinations in themselves, one of the most exciting parts of cruising is disembarking your vessel to do some exploring ashore. But how do you get there, exactly? There are two main ways that cruise ships transfer their passengers to land: docking and tendering. Below we compare the two methods of debarkation and tell you how being docked versus tendered can affect your cruise experience.

Similarities Between Docking and Tendering. Obviously, both tendering and docking will allow passengers to head from the ship to shore. Both also require standard exit procedures, which involve the swiping of your onboard card as you leave the ship, and standard reboarding procedures, which might involve waiting in line at peak times, but that’s basically where the similarities end.

Differences Between Tendering and Docking. The first and most common type of debarkation is docking, when a vessel ties up at a pier and cruisers exit the ship with the help of a ramp or gangplank. The second, tendering, takes place when no pier facilities are available or when the water is too shallow for ships to get closer to shore. Vessels drop anchor a short distance away and use small boats, called tenders, to shuttle passengers to terra firma. Although most tender rides are generally short in duration, the boats are tiny and often stuffy, which might be unpleasant for some passengers prone to seasickness.
