How Far Is El Morro From Cruise Port?

The Castillo de San Cristobal and El Morro forts are located in Puerto Rico, with the former being about 12 miles from the pier and a 15-minute walk. The latter is about 1.3 miles and a 30-minute walk from the port. To reach El Morro, you must enter the city at the old San Juan gate and walk to the port of San Juan.

There are two ways to walk to El Morro: straight uphill through Old San Juan, which places most significant historic and cultural sites within easy walking distance, and turn right onto Del Morro and go straight to the long fort entrance. Another option is to go down Norzagaray to the Quincentennial El Morro, which is 20 minutes from the port and is one of San Juan’s most iconic and historic landmarks.

The total distance from the airport to Castillo San Felipe del Morro is 8.5 miles or 14.0 km, with a drive time of 20-30 minutes depending on the weather. The walking distance from the cruise port to Old San Juan is approximately 1.5 to 2 miles, so wear comfortable shoes and allow at least 30-45 minutes for the walk.

Santa Cruz de La Palma Cruise Port is located 7.65 km from El Morro, and a transfer from there will take approximately 30 minutes. The forts are named after King Philip II of Spain and offer stunning views of the city. Visitors can enjoy walking in OSJ and the El Morro is an easy distance despite being uphill, especially the last block or so.
