How Do The Dome Lights On The Ford Expedition Operate?

This video provides step-by-step instructions for replacing the dome light in a 2019 Ford Expedition. The dome light, which used bulb number 578 from 1999 to 2017, is not only on but also shuts off after a while. To upgrade all interior lights to LED, follow these steps:

1. Remove the dome light from the overhead console.
2. Remove the switch wiring and reassembly tips.
3. Replace the dome light with LED bulbs.
4. Open any door to turn the courtesy and door lamps on.

A common source for this issue is the latches in the rear bran doors. In a 2000 Ford Excursion, the door ajar light and dome lights stay on even after shutting it off. After trying four new batteries, the problem persists.

The front interior dome light stays on, and all other interior lights turn on and off when doors are opened and closed. The problem is most likely caused by a stuck door ajar switch located in each door latch, including the rear gate doors. On the Excursion, this happens when the back hatch isn’t fully closed.
