So we booked the standard because we do not drink and the only other thing we really would add would be internet which my hubbys business pays for. We saved for the four of us in two cabins for a 27 day cruise about 4500 dollars. My husband and I took that money and paid for another cruise and a deposit on an additional one. Sorry Princess for us It Pays Not to plus.
We are not booking a Plus package. I have crunched the numbers multiple times because we do not drink alcohol, and a package doesn’t pay for us. My husband does not need or want Internet so after calculating gratuities for both, a soda package for both, internet for me, 2 visits to Alfredos for both of us, 2x using room service, and activating the Ap if we decide we need it, we still save almost $100 without a package. That doesn’t factor in the additional insurance premium we’d have to pay. Giving Princess that much extra money just so I don’t have to worry about a bill at the end doesn’t concern me. The only items on my bill on our last cruise were some purchases from the shops and not related to any of the things covered on the package. I may discover I have not calculated properly, but right now I think staying with my standard fare is our best choice.
France did start it last year on a trial basis. Yes, it was easy to fill out.The only issue we had as a Canadian ( We have the same # of digits in our telephone numbers as in the US) and the form wanted more numbers ( as they have in Europe) and would not let us advance to the next screen until we ” borrowed” a phone number from British friends, but I am sure they will have rectified this by the time they release the finalized version in 2024. ❤
I really enjoyed my Princess Alaska cruise this past July. I booked on board a January Caribbean cruise on Caribbean Princess. I hope they step up the buffet. Sounds chancy to start with a package and then decide you don’t want it, especially if it means you can lose a lower cost fare and get charged a higher price. Doesn’t it make more sense to just book Standard and ADD a Plus or Premier package once you’re on board (IF you decide to get one)? Surely they can’t change the price of your cruise once you’ve already made final payment and are on board.
So what if you have the Princess Plus and they ask you do you want to upgrade to Premier? Princess is pushing hard for the upgrades. Can you do that post final payment and only pay the difference? What if you upgrade on the ship? Do they refare you at the time of upgrade and add the balance to your onboard account if the cruise fare is more? Or does final payment negate that?
I wish you would be a little more accurate in the language you use. This is NOT a visa. This is a travel authorization which is quite different than a Visa. Please make a public correction so that you don’t keep making the confusion continue. This is primarily a pre-screening device very similar to what we require for people visiting the US. Also, there will be no charge for travelers 70 and above.
