Norwegian Cruise Line offers a variety of beverage packages to satisfy passengers on their fantastic cruises. The Unlimited Open Bar Package, previously known as the Ultimate Beverage Package, provides access to almost any alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) beverage up to 15. The Premium Plus Beverage Package, also known as the Unlimited Soda Package, includes a variety of spirits, cocktails, wines, and more for one daily fee. The Unlimited Soda Package includes endless fountain soda throughout your cruise, including Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Ginger Ale, Tonic Water, Fanta, and Soda Water. STARBUCKS® coffee, sodas, premium bottled water, fresh juices, energy drinks, and BioSteel sports drink selections.

The Unlimited Open Bar Package is the standard Norwegian drink package that includes alcohol, covering cocktails and spirits priced under 15. The Premium Plus Beverage Package, which includes all alcoholic drinks up to 15, soda, juices, and mixers, includes a wide selection of soft drinks, beers, spirits, cocktails, and premium spirit brands. Any items over 15 USD will receive an 15 USD discount.

Is it worth buying a drinks package on a cruise?

Bottom line. Buying a drink package on a cruise ship instead of paying for drinks individually can be a good way to save when cruising. But they aren’t for everyone. Drink packages generally make sense only for cruisers who typically order large numbers of drinks every day or particularly expensive drinks such as premium cocktails. For cruisers who only have one or two or three drinks a day, or order low-cost drinks such as beers, a cruise drink package generally doesn’t make sense.

Is there a limit on how many drinks you can have per day on Norwegian Cruise Line?. Unlike some other cruise brands, Norwegian Cruise Line does not put a daily limit on the number of alcoholic drinks you can order when you have a drink package. Bartenders, however, are trained not to serve passengers who appear visibly intoxicated and have the right to cut anyone off who has over-indulged.

Still, don’t try to order five drinks at once. To prevent people from sneaking drinks to friends who don’t have the package or ordering more than they can drink, Norwegian puts a limit of two beverages per person, per transaction, for anyone signed up for its drink package. Guests with the Starbucks package are entitled to just one beverage per person, per transaction.

To help determine if Norwegian Cruise Line’s alcoholic beverage packages are worth the cost, we must first get an idea of what drinks cost. For beer, you can expect to pay around $7 a glass, while most glasses of wine range from $8 to $20. You’ll find that most cocktails using non-premium spirits cost $11 to $13, and soda costs $3 to $3.50. Most specialty coffees at Starbucks are at least $5, and a large carton of water (NCL doesn’t sell plastic bottled water) is $6.50.

How many drinks a day do you get on Norwegian Cruise Line?

There aren’t any limits as to how many drinks you can order per day. Unlike some other mainstream cruise lines (i.e., Carnival), Norwegian Cruise Line drink packages don’t have a daily limit. This means that if you’re able to reasonably tolerate it, you can order 20 drinks per day!

How much do NCL drink packages cost?. At $109 per person, per day, the Unlimited Open Bar Package is the cheaper alcoholic package. The Premium Plus Beverage Package increases to $138 per person, per day.

The Unlimited Soda Package costs $9.95 per person, per day, regardless of age, while the Unlimited Starbucks Package can be purchased for $12.95 per person, per day.

Is it cheaper to get the drink package on a cruise?

Some rumors have circulated that onboard-purchased drinks packages will save you money, but that is almost always not the case. According to Cruise Critic member pete14, “The only price reductions for a drinks package that I have seen are a special offer for buying the package in advance. Whether even the advance discounted price is good value is debatable and dependent on how many drinks you intend to buy.”

The best time to buy a drinks package, if you believe you need one, is almost always prior to your sailing. The pros tend to outweigh the cons for this option. This doesn’t mean that purchasing your drinks package onboard is a particular bad idea, though. For some cruisers, it’s more ideal to “see how they feel” once they’re on the ship or potentially save money by not purchasing it for the first or second day.
