Why do airlines ask if you are a senior citizen?

If you are 60 years of age or older than this, then you are all set to travel via Air France. You must carry age proof to show while boarding the flight. If you are a senior citizen, the airline also gives you the facility to make changes in certain conditions without any additional charges. They offer up to 30% off for senior citizens. Even you can order ‘My Senior Pass’ from their website (valid for persons aged 65 years and above).

To view senior citizen’s airfares, you have to search the flight using the Advanced Search feature on their website. After filling the flight preferences, look for the drop-down menu in the “Passengers” section. Finally, click on “Senior (65+)” to avail the discounted airfare for senior citizens.

You can join AARP after turning 50. This comes with few perks like saving up to $200 on trans-Atlantic flights with British Airways. This discount is given for round-trip flights for the routes of U. S gateways to the United Kingdom. Also, this discount applies to the passenger who is traveling with an AARP member.

Is 55 years old considered senior?

Being a senior citizen is not a specific age, but it typically begins at age 55. By age 65, retirement from work is the most common age for senior citizens. However, an increasing number of senior citizens are working after 65, making retirement no longer a key factor in becoming a senior. Senior citizen discounts exist in various sectors, including fast food restaurants, sit-down restaurants, grocery stores, airfare, sports tickets, hotel accommodations, movie theater tickets, hair salons, tire service centers, and cell phone companies. Additionally, members of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) can receive members-only discounts on various items.

These discounts are provided to help seniors afford essentials and extras, as they are on fixed incomes with limited assets. Companies offer these discounts to help seniors live a healthy, happy life in retirement, ensuring they can afford both essentials and extras.

  • We saw him in Ivybridge about six years ago. It’s a small venue which was completely sold out. Jethro came into the bar before the show and went round and spoke to as many people as he could, which luckily included my wife and I. It was like talking to someone you have known for years. We both came out of the show with aching sides through laughing so much. RIP Jethro.

  • Im 13 and i play flute for a middle school band, and my band teacher said i cant do rock on the flute i told my grandpa and he showed me Jethro tull’s music 🙂 I feel like i was born in the wrong generation edit: Thanks for all the people replieing but I dropped out a while ago haha, Im now a freshmen who does chrous

  • I grew up on Jethro Tull as my late Dad was a great fan . I’m now 47 and my beloved Dad passed away in June 19 from pancreatic cancer. I’m listening to this with tears as the music brings so many memories of him in my head . R I P Ian Charles Jones. It is an honour to share the music of Tull with you .xxx

  • My words but a whisper your deafness a SHOUT. I may make you feel but I can’t make you think. Wow. The poetry, the arrangements, the strings, the voice, the creativity, the variations yet the wholesomeness of it all…. 50 years ago the teenager I was thought that this was extraordinary, could not get enough of it. Now 50 years later at the venerable age of 67, with 35 years of international consultancy in the rearview mirror, 3 kids, 1 divorce, 2 families, a son who has become a professional classical violinist, having felt in love with cuban music and all kinds of music genres, I can say only this: this is freaking genius. Still the best. Touching. Magnificent. Unequalled.

  • As a 16 years old in 1972, I bought a sound system, headphones and this album, plus Genesis’s Foxtrot, Neil Young’s Harvest and Cat Stevens’s Catch Bull at Four with the money I made with my very first job ever, and listened to this album every day in the evening alone in my room. It made me fly in my imagination without drugs. I dont think I have ever tripped on an album as much as with this one in my entire life.

  • To all ye other rare tullians out there all united listening to the pinnacle of Andersons musical genius, i hope you have a wonderful day, night whatever it may be. I hope you get through whatever it may be troubling you, that you are special and amazing. That you are wonderful and deserving. Take care 🤘

  • When I was eight I got to pick an instrument for band and I picked the flute The next day my brother brought me Aqualung and made me swear to keep it hidden from our mother. My First non kid album. Years later I was able to take him to see Tull from the balcony, could almost reach out and play the notes myself. What An Amazing Talent!! Thank you for sharing this!

  • Thanks to my ex-boyfriend’s father, he introduced me to this and I’m so glad he did. The 70s was truly the progressive age of classic rock. Jethro Tull really deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, especially for original masterful works like this. And the words itself truly predicted the future of today’s poor excuse of a generation. Most have become thick as a brick indeed.

  • One of the greatest prog songs out there. I’m always fascinated how diverse classic rock really is. I always think of it like life, you have all kinds of friends, and friends of those with opposite views, and prog rock is like the smart nerd friends, so glad to have listened to this music in high school.

  • I love how most people don’t recognize that one of the main themes of the song and album were to be satirical to British humor and the jack in the box rhythm which is featured on the song. The band did it candidly out of humor and never expected it to gain a cult following like it did. It remains deep in my heart a joyful childhood memory upon first discovery and an all time favorite when I start feeling nostalgic.

  • Christ I love this band! I saw them four times. They really have something! When I drove up in the VW Camper from Shropshire to the Scottish Highlands to go climbing, this band seemed to be just right! Especially at night . Singing along with my brother Duncan, heading for a nasty wee mountain with a full moon above, why would we not agree to let Ian bring us songs from the wood!

  • My dad would drive us on long car trips when I was little and all you had was the CD player mostly being 4 or 5. He liked Stevie ray, zeppelin, all sorts and f shit but also weird stuff like the tubes and the talking heads. I can remember clear as day when he put this song on. I didn’t know the name of it until I was much older. I just remember the feeling and the imagination. It would come on at it was like, whoa, dad, what is this? Lead flute man…..he rips!

  • There have been some amazing Classic and Prog Rock groups…the latter being ELP, Yes, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd…But if I had to name one person who was the most underrated of all–taking into account lyrics, songwriting, singing, and multi instrumentalist (here flute and acoustic guitar), I gotta choose Ian Anderson. And it may not even be close.

  • My father had 2 CD’s that I found when I was 15 and probably listened to them day and night non stop, Jethro Tull and Pink Floyd. In 2012 I came to learn english in Europe and had the opportunity to see Ian Anderson at his turner, I visited Liverpool for that, soon after I went to the wall concert by Roger Waters in Dublin. I still not believe the experiences I was able to have, so great and completely unexpected. Thanks universe, for knowing what I love!

  • For what it is worth, young fellow. The world is full of people, some eight billion. Ian Anderson, of Jethro Tull, is as of a flavor: Some like it, some do not. Some take it to an extreme, especially those that do not. Parents and teachers are a good resource. Youth was meant to be enjoyed. Choosing between a good musician and those that also obstruct youth will define as you become older. I am an old guy, but youth needs time to enjoy. The world around is changing. Like few products on store shelves, choose as best that you can.

  • I’m writing this before listening to the song, just remembering that I know how it goes. I had it on a cassette track tape in the 1970s. “Spin me back down the years and the days of my youth. Draw the lace and black curtains, and shut out the whole truth. Spin me Down the long ages. Let them sing the songs” Now time to check how close I was.😊

  • Watch and observe, children. They PLAY their instruments and sing with competence. They know their instruments and have spent a lot of time practicing and learning their skill. No Autotune. No computerization doing it for them. This is something called talent. Talent was a skill from decades ago before Autotune, before computerization, before the record industry picked young people to become stars based on visual appeal and how far a person would go with publicity stunts to create shock value. These talented musicians of the past had creativity, commitment, flair, skill, and put in a lot of time writing and polishing their songs. Many of them read what is called sheet music. Sheet music is a kind of language for music using what is called notes. Sheet music and notes kind of equate to learning how to write language and use what is called grammar. Grammar are the rules and guidelines of language. Music has a grammar to it, as well. In both writing language and music, creativity may be used to create magnificent songs, such as the one on this article. However, you will have to learn what is called discipline. Discipline requires something called work. Discipline and work will give you the means to learn how to actually sing and play instruments on your own without computerized assistance. Once you become good with singing and playing instruments, something called your self-esteem will improve. You will develop a sense of what is called accomplishment, like these young lads in the article.

  • had the chance to see tull here in australia,,,had the tickets and ian fell off the frilling stage and cancelled the rest of the tour and they didn’t make it to sydney,,,my arse fell apart,,,,,,,,,my husband had seen tull live and couldn’t stop praising how they played live better than their albums,,,,,missed a golden chance to see them,,,i can laugh about it now,,,and still have my Lp;s,,,,but so close yet so far lol

  • Really don’t mind if you sit this one out My word’s but a whisper your deafness a shout I may make you feel but I can’t make you think Your sperm’s in the gutter your love’s in the sink So you ride yourselves over the fields And you make all your animal deals And your wise men don’t know how it feels To be thick as a brick And the sandcastle virtues are all swept away In the tidal destruction the moral melee The elastic retreat rings the close of play As the last wave uncovers the newfangled way But your new shoes are worn at the heels And your suntan does rapidly peel And your wise men don’t know how it feels To be thick as a brick And the love that I feel is so far away: I’m a bad dream that I just had today And you shake your head And said it’s a shame Spin me back down the years and the days of my youth Draw the lace and black curtains and shut out the whole truth Spin me down the long ages, let them sing the song See there, a son is born and we pronounce him fit to fight There are blackheads on his shoulders, and he pees himself in the night We’ll make a man of him, put him to trade Teach him to play Monopoly and how to sing in the rain The poet and the painter casting shadows on the water As the sun plays on the infantry returning from the sea The do-er and the thinker, no allowance for the other As the failing light illuminates the mercenary’s creed The home fire burning, the kettle almost boiling But the master of the house is far away The horses stamping, their warm breath clouding In the sharp and frosty morning of the day And the poet lifts his pen while the soldier sheaths his sword And the youngest of the family is moving with authority Building castles by the sea, he dares the tardy tide to wash them all aside The cattle quietly grazing at the grass down by the river Where the swelling mountain water moves onward to the sea: The builder of the castles renews the age-old purpose And contemplates the milking girl whose offer is his need The young men of the household have all gone into service And are not to be expected for a year The innocent young master, thoughts moving ever faster Has formed the plan to change the man he seems And the poet sheaths his pen while the soldier lifts his sword And the oldest of the family is moving with authority Coming from across the sea, he challenges the son Who puts him to the run What do you do when the old man’s gone, ddo you want to be him?

  • The 70s rock scene was awesome and going alright with bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd but then Queen had to come and derail the rock scene compeletly with their pop music, simple song structure, bullshit lyrics convincing others that they are rock. And this has led to the pop music of today such a shame.

  • I’m Mexican born and raised in Texas, have been listening to rock before I knew it was rock, the only rock my parents heard was Elvis Presley jail house rock and old time popular happy days song rock around the clock tonight. Me I love everything from Aerosmith to ZZTop, rock is and will Always be my favorite music but I can enjoy all kinds of music when other people play their stuff. Enjoy learning about different music and I like the lesser known songs too it’s like bonus music, keep on rocking till the last drop

  • I revisit this every March 5th because every single day after school I wouldnt even go to my parents house first, I would go to my grandpa’s house and he would play this song. But even happy times like that comes to an end because unfortunately he had dementia… So every day at the hospital I would play this song for him until he passed away on March 5th… And in the funeral I played and sung this song and played my flute out of his memory… Rest in peace Grandpa I love you be safe in heaven

  • I saw Tull live on this tour and Passion Play the following year and they were amazing and still one of my favorite live acts and I saw everyone cuz it was very affordable in the 70’s. Ian Anderson is a consummate showman and effortlessly goes from flute to guitar while holding down all the vocals since they don’t have backing vocals or harmonies like most bands.
