  • Great article man. Just one thing I would like to point out (just based on my experience) especially for the people that are planning to apply for this visa regarding the proof of funds. It is truth that after one year the renewal will require twice as much as required for the first year but there are some options to consider. 1) To apply for a self-employed residence ( autónomo) giving services to Spain, Europe, US etc, or 2) Look for a job in Spain. Of course, if the person does not need to work can renew the Non- Lucrative residence again for two years ( mandatory). In the case of genuine passive income higher than the minimum required per month is Ok. It is not needed for the renewal to show the whole amount of money for the two years though, regular and sufficient passive income will suffice. regards

  • Great article, it has been very informative! I am also from Pennsylvania trying to book my apportionment with the NYC consulate for the NLV. However, I am not sure what page to go to in order to book the appointment at the consulate. If you could please provide me with this information I would greatly appreciate it!

  • Thanks for the helpful article. The San Francisco Spanish Consulate retirement visa page says: residency applicants cannot have or leave loans or mortgages in the United States while applying for a residency in Spain. We were planning to rent out our home while living in Spain for a year and we do have a mortgage. If we do not want to pay off our mortgage are there other options you know of that would allow us to get past this requirement?

  • Great article. I am preparing to move from Canada to Spain (with my family) and wants to apply to NLV, but I have two questions that couldn’t find the answer on the consulate embassy website: Q1: Do we need to have a spanish address in order to apply for the visa? Q2: My major amount of money is in my business bank account (which is under my name) and not in my personal, is it ok to show that business account as a proof instead of a personal account ?
