📹 Shark Tank’s Daymond John Files Restraining Order Against Contestants
‘Shark Tank’s Daymond John has filed a restraining order against former contestants, following allegations that he’s taken over …
Damon harmed this family’s business. The guy he had overseeing the operation of many of his shark tank investments turned out to be a FRAUD. The guy is being charged so I don’t know how he is attempting to turning this around on them. They genuinely wanted his guidance and he dropped the ball. Now he’s playing victim. Wow.
Years back Daymond was hosting a tour to speak to entrepreneurs across the nation. There were free tickets and also tickets that cost in the thousands for the same conference. I signed up and went to the conference at a Rosen Hotel. When I walked in, a woman was walking out, expressing to the ticket holders how terrible the experience was. So much so, she was leaving early. I went in, of course expecting to see Daymond John, being that it was his image and name splattered across the advertising/social media for this event. Instead, there were about 5 huge men, dressed in all black suits, sitting at tables in the back of the room. The unknown speaker on stage, was belittling those who entered with free tickets, and giving cash from his pocket to those who purchased their tickets. It was nothing more than this disgusting intimidation tactic and sales pitch to get people to sign up for Daymond’s expensive azz “marketing package.” They weren’t teaching shit, no motivation speech, nada. Oh, and Daymond wasn’t even there btw. I stayed for about 10 minutes, listening to a man berate the audience, then left. Never looked at Daymond John the same since.
As a business owner, I completely understand that ur fully responsible for who u allow to invest in ur company. I believe this guy was already doing good business before but wanted a huge boost in sales for his product and he got that, sadly it’s coming to a high price to pay. Sometimes it’s better to just cut ur losses and sell ur shares and move on. It’s a lesson learned and he will make enough to move on and create something new. The little guys are always being taken advantage of by the big guys, it’s how the business world works and how the big guys stay on top.
Daymond is kept on the show so producers can always point their cameras at him whenever an entrepreneur says they’re a “black owned business”. Turns out Daymond doesn’t really care if you’re a “brother” and just wants to line his pockets, which is of course the point of the show which people don’t seem to get
Daymond got a restraining order because they signed paperwork saying that wouldn’t disparage him. Now he’s walking around like he’s been vindicated and like he’s done nothing wrong, but you didn’t win a restraining order because you didn’t do anything wrong, you only win because of a technicality, sir. The documents they signed before you took advantage of them.
Y’all know these reality show contracts are NOT set up to benefit the contestants. Money always wants more money and power always wants more power. Wish there was more exposure of the ways these contracts absolutely give the shaft to the product creators/artists/contestants. Marcus Veltri made an informative article about the America’s Got Talent contract. That 1 million dollar prize? Paid in yearly $25,000 (BEFORE taxes, which can be higher for this type of income.) These shows exist to make money for the people involved in producing them, not to better the contestants’ lives.
Shark Tank has been on since 2008. With that longevity viewers (like myself) need to take in all the Good these sharks have done with entrepreneurs. Example with Daymond John would be Bambos socks, etc. (sorry about the spelling if it is wrong.) Viewers like ourselves do not know all the facts. So, in my opinion, we should take a step back, and see how this business plays out. As always there are 2 or more sides to any narrative. I support, until I know differently, Daymond John as well as all the sharks, with what they do to help young businesses. Yes, they are investors – but where did entrepreneurs go when they needed money and connections before Shark Tank? Be careful of reputations; change may not be better.😊
I know we don’t know the full story. End of the day it was their idea first, I know business is business but hopefully Daymond keeps trying to do the right thing going forward. When presented with confidentiality contracts I’d presume you’d be on high alert and deeply think about the decisions you’re making. At best it’s a trashy business owner selling more to his investor instead of going broke and daymond is taking the reigns and they’re being vocal about it all.. I’d like to maintain the belief that the sharks wouldn’t do anything wildly inappropriate or illegal if it had gained much of its publicity from the network… just have to wait to see how this one settles.
Remember Bubba Baker was an NFL start and his son is currently one of the more well known safeties in the league (thanks DK) So a high profile celebrity can get his message out, and still nothing can be done for them. How many more unknown have been screwed over by Daymond that never got their stories heard or cared about?
Bubba and his daughter need to take up all of this in court. They need to be careful of saying things online because they are in a business contract with Daymond and anything said online or in interviews that seems like slander goes against confidentiality in their agreement. All things business should be handled in court. Also, Bubba and his daughter shouldn’t have given Daymond so much control of their business. Now look at them! All Daymond should be is just an investor with a small percentage of the company, not a 50% partner. Bubba could have done all of this by himself with his daughter, he would have gotten better results and would have kept more of the money.
😑🧐I’ve watched “Shark Tank” an I fell off cause in my mind an im 58 yrs old me an my wife worked on the internet yrs ago we were our own bosses an when we said it was over it was over no going back, well today we have a grandson an two grown children-Male an female, grandson by female, all are beautiful an maybe one day we will be in business an hope to bring our children in an grandson, but its common sense: you don’t need an investor you get a lawyer an make a plan an you can get the profit you want without giving your idea that you an your familia have worked on!!!! THATS WHY IT DOESNT MATTER THE RACE BUSINESS IS BUSINESS AN YOU SHOULD KEEP IT IN THE FAMILIA!!!👊😠 SOMEONE IS ALWAYS LOOKING TO GET SOMETHING AN YOU WERE WRONG TO CHOOSE “Shark Tank” to uplift your business!!! May God show what is going on an hope it turns out right!!!!🤟🧐
Many business owners gets blinded when money is coming in. They accepted Daymonds offers, signed a contract, & Daymond has connections to bring them the big bucks. When all the money comes in, owners feel they it belongs all to them & immediately forgot who helped them get to where they are. Seems to me they are spending more money on their lifestyle, now hurting for money, & now feels Daymond owes them.
Too many people nowadays are trying to suddenly quit their job and become entrepreneurs when they have no family experience or anything with it. My family has had our own business for six generations and I can tell you most of the time it’s more than good lol. But I definitely wouldn’t for an investor simply because I don’t like the thought of it
With Daymond’s investment and connections, he helped them scale from $150K to multi-millions and this is the thanks Daymond gets? I hope he had an iron clad contract in place. I wouldn’t have said a thing on social media. I just would have made a call to my attorney. Sued for defamation and the sale of my stake in the company + the loss of future profits. 🤷🏾♀️
These shark tank hosts have been scamming their guests for a while now. Mr. Wonderful has been sued For telling companies they have to hire this marketing firm company to expand their businesses. Well he owns the company and all of his customers related to the show have sued him for not doing what he said he would do with that marketing firm. 😮 Now this.. im ashamed i even watched it to let them be that crooked to this bbq company. Daymond restructured the deal after the show from 300k to 150k and took 5% more of the company while paying half that. The owner is suing saying Mr daymond is stealing money from the top on top of that. This show should replace mr. Wonderful and daymond and sue them for taking advantage of the show and the people. Or publicly shot
They thought well Daymond is black so he is going to give us a bit more than we agreed to. and thats the problem with black people, always expect some kind of hand out just because the person is also black? thats why black businesses fail because thats the expectation, its business, not a family hang-out spot. I dont think Daymond did anything wrong to them, i think they just had a unrealistic expectations from him just because he is black too. cant be doing that. your business needs to appeal to a wide range of people or else its not going anywhere
I don’t know the details but here’s the reality. Damon 100x their sales. He got them distribution and 100’s of stores nationwide. He probably had to change the recipe for preservation to support the scale. Damon’s like guys you were making 40grand a year before this partnership now you’re making 4 million. What do you want your old family recipe or the income? You can’t have both. On top of that you all have become the silent partners and the brand. You decide. Damon’s team probably changed packaging and added flavors based on analytics and shelf competition and the original family felt cut out. Again I don’t know the details but if I had to wager my house on this deal this is what is exactly going on. Their millions a year isn’t enough because Damon is getting the lions share and rightfully so. He took and supported an idea that had little sales and scaled it to a multimillion company. If the family could’ve done that themselves then they should have.
Of course he wanted to expand the business but if it became a bad experience, he should be allowed to voice that, not everyone has a positive experience with people. It’s just like when you post to review on any company that you have used.! I’m sure he doesn’t mind good reviews but of course he’s trying to suppress the bad reviews, if he was a snake, he deserves it!!!
No such thing as a free lunch. Literally speaking in this case. Much as I find Shark Tank (and its Canadian/British counterparts, Dragon’s Den), entertaining, the Sharks aren’t angel investors, they’re devil investors. Their relationship with entrepreneurs is largely parasitic, and having the super wealthy take huge chunks of equity from the struggling is pure greed and essentially, immoral. Yes, they put up some cash, but the return they expect is invariably disproportionate to the money and help they offer. Kevin O’Leary, though cast as the pantomime villain, is actually the only truly honest shark among them as he makes no bones about doing deals for as much money as he can get from the transaction, not as much money as he’s worth to the entrepreneur. For most, taking a Shark Tank offer is a sucker’s deal, despite the handful of “success stories” they showcase as bait. You’re better off going on there, hawking your product, then rejecting any offer. It’s free publicity, which Cuban of course hates, and you leave with your dignity and business intact. Remember, in nature, sharks are killing and eating machines, and, like their human equivalents on this show, they do it with smiles on their faces. Seller beware!
All these ppl that goes on these kind if shows looking for financial deals they need to keep in mind that these investors are not where they are because they make bad deals…its business for them all year round and they are going to protect their money with what counts…CONTRACTS. If you get into one without reading the fine print whos fault is that? If you sing an NDA and didnt think WHY do i have to do this or is this looks fishy…whos fault is that? At the end of the day, nobody forces anybody into any kind of deals so dont let the desperation of getting $$ for your business cloud your judgement.
I been perusal shark tank a few years now but off the dribble i said damon looks sneaky his energy is shady to me. And he gives me that whole uncle tom vibe IMO not fond of his own kind. He had pushed his hood bc community up & coming fubu days way behind him dude 4got where he came from a long time ago I COULD NEVA do a deal with him
Thank you for your articles. We can’t find hope and peace in this world but there is Someone that can give us true hope and peace. Because he Loved us: John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Because of his Grace: Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Because of Hope: Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
