Room service is an amenity that allows passengers to order food to be delivered to their cruise ship cabins, either free or charged. It is available on all mainstream cruise lines, but it is less likely to be found on river and expedition vessels. Free continental breakfast is available from 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM, and 24-hour room service is available daily onboard at Holland America Line.
Room service is usually unavailable on disembarkation morning, so guests must wake up and head to the buffet or main dining room before getting off the ship. There are cut-off times as to how late room service is available. Royal Caribbean offers room service on most ships, but not all items are free. Depending on the cruise line and cabin class, room service can be either a complimentary all-inclusive service, billed per item, or carries a flat delivery fee.
On Disney ships, room service is available on all luxury and standard accommodations, from the luxurious 2-story Ultimate Family Suite with a dedicated concierge and VIP privileges to the less expensive Studio Feast. Room service is available any time of the day (or night) and is always delivered right to your door. The menus are generally provided in your stateroom, and you can access the menu via the QR code in your stateroom.
On Princess Cruises, there is no room service fee, but the menu is divided between complimentary choices and those with upcharges, primarily snacks. On Celebrity Cruises, room service is complimentary from 5:00am to 11:00pm, and guests can order from the continental menu for breakfast. However, between 11 pm and 6 am, room service incurs a 4.95 service fee.
