Do Bobby And Athena Survive The Cruise?

Season 7 of 9-1-1 features a series of events that may lead to the death of Bobby and Athena. The couple’s honeymoon cruise ends in choppy waters when pirates search for a dongle to access Bobby’s survival and new outlook on life after a heart attack. In the season 7 finale, Athena’s revenge pursuit may have career-ending consequences.

The show’s three-part cruise ship disaster takes months of filming, with no actual cruise. Bobby and Athena work together to save the vessel, but nearly lose their lives. They survived after Krause and Bassett manage to turn in emotionally charged performances while chin-deep in water. However, a massive wave overtakes the ship just as escape seems possible.

The show also features a several-episode arc of Bobby and Athena trying to survive the multi-pronged disaster. Norman, who manages to survive this ordeal despite bleeding out from a gunshot wound for two straight episodes, is seen as a key character. Athena believes that Amir is responsible for the fire at her home. Bobby and Athena nearly drown together at one point, but they are rescued with seconds to spare by Julian.

Julian makes it clear that he couldn’t save his first family and felt like he was letting Athena down. He manages to save his wife, Athena Grant (Angela Bassett), and gets them both out a bedroom window, but collapses soon after they reach a safe place.

Does Bobby survive the cruise ship?

That’s right, folks! As if the 118’s Dad hadn’t been through enough in 9-1-1‘s first six seasons — or, you know, in Season 7, when he casually survived a capsized cruise ship, a desert cartel attack, and overwhelming levels emotional trauma — showrunner Tim Minear introduced another potentially deadly arc for Bobby to cap off the current season.

The four-episode arc kicked off when Malcolm-Jamal Warner joined the show as Amir, a burn unit nurse who survived the deadly apartment fire Bobby accidentally started back in 2014, which killed 148 people, including Amir’s wife. Desperate to make amends with Amir, Bobby followed him to Jacumba, where the two found themselves in another life-threatening situation. In between traumatic flashbacks to Bobby’s childhood, the 118 captain helped save Amir’s life. But the living reminder of the pain Bobby caused left him feeling unworthy of his amazing wife, family, job, and second chance at life.

In Episode 9, after the 118 and Bobby are awarded Medals of Valor for their heroic efforts on the cruise ship, Bobby shares his unexpected plans to resign from the 118 with his wife Athena (Angela Bassett). Worried for his safety, Athena enlists Amir’s help to get through to Bobby before it’s too late…but the episode ends with Bathena’s house going up in flames and Krause’s character collapsing on the ground. So is this the end of the road for Bobby Nash?

Do Bobby and Athena make it off the boat?

The first responder drama kept the stakes high on Thursday’s episode, the second of a three-part premiere event paying homage to the 1972 ABC disaster thriller “The Poseidon Adventure,” as Bobby (Krause) and Athena (Angela Bassett) attempted to save their honeymoon cruise ship from a hijacking, an explosion and later a Category 5 hurricane. The action-packed hour reached an emotional climax when both characters mistakenly locked themselves in a room that was quickly filling up with water. Fearing they would drown before help arrived, the couple professed their love for each other and awaited their fate — only to be saved at the last second by cruise ship director Julian (Rick Cosnett).

“As an audience member, you almost hope they die together,” Krause told TheWrap in a recent interview. “I was filming it and thinking, ‘Let’s just Romeo and Juliet this thing right now.’ I know the show’s gotta go on, but we’re never going to be able to top this.”

Despite the dire circumstances, Krause celebrated how the premiere event gave him the opportunity to work closely with Bassett for an extended run of filming, as their characters tend to face different emergencies in typical “9-1-1” episodes with Bobby leading the firefighters of the 118 and Athena busy as a patrol sergeant for the LAPD.

During filming of the pivotal scene, Krause said production used heated water (“so it wasn’t too bad”) and he and Bassett were able to play off each other and add elements to the scene “that weren’t necessarily scripted” that helped bring authentic tragedy to the episode.

What happens in season 7 episode 9 of 9-1-1?

While Eddie attempts to hide his new — acquaintance — from the rest of the 118, Kim stops by the firehouse to drop off brownies for the crew. There, she runs into Buck (Stark), who is taken aback by her likeness to Shannon.

Wasting no time, Buck heads straight to Eddie to confront him about his involvement with Kim. Eddie admits that he “doesn’t know” what he’s doing by getting close to her, and the two end the conversation with Buck confessing that he’s “worried” about his best friend.

Realizing the pain he’s going to cause if things continue, Eddie comes clean to Kim about her being Shannon’s doppelgänger. While he claims that he does like her, he owns up to spending time with her in hopes that Shannon might return. The two part ways amicably, but Kim shows up at Eddie’s house the following day dressed as Shannon and tells him to get what he needs to say off his chest.

While Eddie hesitates at first, he eventually gives in and breaks down to Kim (who he is pretending is Shannon, are you following?), releasing his anger that she left him after he returned from Afghanistan. He asks her why their son, Christopher (Gavin McHugh), got a note explaining her absence from their lives but he never did, before admitting that he feels lost without her.

Did Bobby and Athena survive?

No, Bobby does not die in in the 9-1-1 Season 7 finale, but his life was definitely at risk. Season 7, Episode 9, “Ashes, Ashes,” ended with Bobby collapsing from cardiac arrest after rescuing Athena from their burning home. The preview for the 9-1-1 Season 7 finale showed Krause’s character on a ventilator and unconscious in a coma. The teaser ended with ominous sound of a flatline, leaving some of the Station 118 crew gasping.

Thankfully, Bobby woke up from his coma in the final episode of Season 7. “Being a part of this comic book come to life about first responders, has been really fun. Because we go through things that some people wouldn’t necessarily survive, but that’s the language of the show,” Krause told People after the finale aired.

He continued, “It is about perseverance and redemption and moving forward and having family and supporting each other. All these themes are underneath the splashy entertainment. And I’m a big fan of the splashy entertainment, the wild and wacky emergencies. But I’m also really happy to see us delve into people’s personal lives and see them struggle with the same things that audience members struggle with.”

What happens to Bobby at the end of Radio Flyer?

Bobby died at the hands of his step father. Mike had tried as he may to get Bobby out. Only a child could think that it would be possible to build a machine that could fly.

Seriously interesting slice of bittersweet magic realism.

This bittersweet slice of magic realism had a checkered production history (director/writer replaced) and tanked at the box office, but it’s a helluva film.

Elijah Wood and Joseph Mazzello are pre-teen brothers whose flaky mom (Lorraine Bracco) shacks up with a mean-spirited alcoholic (Adam Baldwin). During his drinking bouts, Baldwin physically abuses Mazzello and manipulates him into remaining silent about his situation. But when Wood cottons on to what’s happening, the boys put their heads together and hatch a fantastique solution to Mazzello’s devastating dilemma.

Does Athena survive 9-1-1?

The episode, titled “All Fall Down,” followed the immediate aftermath of the devastating fire at Bobby and Athena’s (Angela Bassett) home. After rescuing Athena from the blaze, Bobby collapsed at the end of Episode 9. The finale picked up with him at the hospital, having suffered a cardiac arrest. After a twisty investigation by Athena brought the responsible arsonist to justice, Bobby woke up and the couple seemed ready to rebuild their lives from there.

But before the fire, Bobby had handed in his resignation from the 118 to the fire chief. So when he attempted to return to his post at the end of the episode, he and the rest of the crew were shocked to learn that former captain Vincent Gerrard (Brian Thompson) was already back — having come out of retirement to fix things at the firehouse and fill the void left by Bobby.

“Gerrard holds a grudge against Bobby because he, of course, took over the firehouse after Gerrard. So I’m wondering if there isn’t some sort of conflict and some skullduggery behind the scenes that Gerrard is up to,” Krause teased to TheWrap of the drama to come when the show returns for Season 8 this fall.

Does Bobby ever forgive Sam?

Sam, concerned by reports that the psychological damage his soul will have sustained while being tortured by Lucifer will destroy him if it is restored to his body, attempts to kill Bobby in “Appointment in Samarra” as part of a ritual to prevent his soul returning to him. After Sam’s soul is restored, Bobby easily forgives Sam as he recognizes that Sam was not responsible; though, he is awkward around him at first due to his actions. Bobby then collaborates with the Winchesters in tracking down Eve, the mother of all monsters, when she is released from Purgatory by a ritual performed by dragons, even after their first attempt results in Bobby being possessed by a brain-controlling slug Eve has created, as well as in the death of his old friend and mentor, Rufus, in “And Then There Were None”.

During a temporary change in the timeline caused by angel Balthazar saving the Titanic, Bobby is married to a still-living Ellen in “My Heart Will Go On”, but this timeline is undone with only Sam, Dean, and the angels remembering it.

After a time-travel mission results in the brothers and Bobby acquiring the phoenix ash needed to kill Eve, they eliminate her in “Mommy Dearest”. They also realize that Castiel has been deceiving them and in “The Man Who Would Be King” deduce that he has collaborating with Crowley to open Purgatory in an attempt to acquire the power of the souls within it to use in the civil war in Heaven. Despite their best efforts, Dean, Sam and Bobby fail to stop Castiel, who uses the Purgatory souls to elevate himself to a god-like level in the sixth season finale.
