Carnival Cruise Line has announced a new dress code for its cruise passengers, banning certain clothing that other guests might find offensive. Camouflage is illegal in over a dozen countries, including popular Caribbean cruise destinations like Barbados, Jamaica, and Saint Lucia. The company conducts security scanning of all luggage and reserves the right to confiscate any item deemed dangerous or posing a risk to the vessel or its guests.
Carnival Cruise Line brand ambassador John Heald recently responded to a concerned guest who had their visit to the Caribbean, The Bahamas, or another warm destination. Packing for a cruise is relatively easy, and warm-weather clothing is generally acceptable. However, it is not permitted to wear camouflage clothing during excursions or on land. Carnival assumes no responsibility for any issues with camouflage attire, as styles can vary.
It is perfectly okay to wear the same thing more than once on a cruise, but it is important to avoid wearing sleeveless shirts (for men), cut-off jeans, T-shirts, or gym shorts. If you want to attend a cruise elegant evening, bring a fancier, more formal outfit.
Cruise lines may not prohibit camouflage on board, but it could cause trouble during stops. If passengers manage to get off the ship at a port, they should be aware that although camouflage is allowed onboard, this does not apply to all Caribbean destinations. If you choose to wear camo illegally, you should always check with Carnival before packing for your cruise.
