Can You Water Ski On Medina Lake?

Wallys Watersports is a boat rental company located on Medina Lake near San Antonio in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas. The lake spans 4,246 acres and is open from September to May, with weekends only from 8 AM to 8 PM. From Memorial Day weekend through August, it is open 7 days a week from 7 AM to 8 PM. Boat launch fees are 15 per boat and 25 per jet ski, and overnight boat storage is available at 15 if dry or wet storage is available.

Water levels can fluctuate by up to 40 feet depending on area rainfall. Scuba diving is a popular activity due to the clear water and limestone bluffs of Lake Medina. However, there are also laws that must be abided by, such as having specific safety equipment onboard or having proper lights installed on your boat. Recreational fishing is one of the main activities at Medina Lake, with bait and tackle available around the lake.

Red Cove Cafe Marina offers easy boat ramp access, covered boat slips, and dry storage options. Boat and kayak rentals are available at various locations on the lake, and the company also offers a water ski school, pro shop, and boat storage.

Bandera County Medina Lake Park is located at the end of Park Road 37 in Lakehills and offers swimming, picnicking, boating, and fishing for day use only. The park also offers boat rentals, jet ski rentals, waverunners, boat tours, water sport activities, lessons, flyboarding, and water toys.

The elevation-storage rating curve used to produce the storage hydrograph is made of two segments: the segment up to the conservation pool top (below the red line) is based on measured data, and the segment in the flood pool (above the red line) is an extrapolation from the first segment and shouldn’t be relied upon for flood storage information.

Does Saws take water from Medina Lake?

SAWS took water from the lake in 2012, but stopped in 2013, with utility officials saying the water quality was too poor to be treated at SAWS’ filtration plant, in part because of how low the water level was in the lake.

Medina Lake is regulated by Texas Parks and Wildlife, and fishing at the lake requires a Texas fishing license.

• Swimming Safety Tips. Use caution when swimming in Lake Michigan. The bottom is uneven with holes and deep drop-offs. These inshore holes are very dangerous to small children and non-swimmers.
• Parents and guardians must keep a constant watch of children in the water.
• Stay out of the water when there are high, breaking waves and rip currents.
• Rip currents are caused by a sudden break in an offshore sandbar that releases water rapidly back into the lake. Rip current conditions often occur when the wind is out of the north. These dangerous currents can also occur in waters adjacent to seawalls, artificial reefs, and erosion control structures
• stay clear of these areas. Obey posted and verbal rip current warnings.
• If being pulled out into deeper water by a forceful, unexpected rip current, DO NOT PANIC. Follow the rip current or try to swim out of it by swimming parallel to shore until the pull outward into deeper water subsides.

IWWF World Water Ski Show Tournament. Serving as the capstone event for the100th Anniversary of Water Ski, the 2022 IWWF World Water Ski Show Tournament will be the largest tournament to date. Teams and individuals from around the world will travel to Winter Haven, FL. the “Water Ski Capital of the World,” to compete for the internationally recognized discipline of show ski.
