Florida offers a variety of sun-soaked snorkeling destinations, each offering a unique underwater experience. Key West, located at the southernmost tip of the state, is a top spot for night diving. To avoid being unfamiliar with the area when the lights are out, it is recommended to snorkel or dive first in the daylight. A strong dive light is also essential. Florida’s over 1,000 miles of coastline have some of the best snorkeling around, from the Emerald Coast to the turquoise waters of the Palm Beaches.
The Florida Keys are a gem for snorkelers, lying on the world’s third-largest coral barrier reef, the Florida Reef. While there are no companies currently offering night snorkeling tours in the Florida Keys, there are ways to con the system. These tours can happen from beaches or boats, and most single snorkeling tours are three hours long. Night snorkeling is an amazing experience, as the entire underwater sea life changes and the scenery changes.
In some areas, it is legal to sleep on the beach as the state owns all the beach front. Parking is a tricky part, so it is recommended to leave from Key Largo or Marathon Key. Key West and Key Largo are two of the most well-known snorkeling destinations due to the vast array of beautiful coral reefs and vibrant ocean life they host.
