Can You Run Vent Lines Into Your Snorkel?

Before snorkeling your ATV’s vent lines, it is essential to ensure that the area around the vents is free from water and mud. It is recommended against running vent lines to the air box as this can create negative pressure on the diffs and water pump, potentially causing damage.

Snorkels help keep water and mud out of the engine when going through ravines, rivers, or lakes. They can also be used to provide fresh air while using the snorkel, especially if swimming in an area where water is present. To move the crankcase vent (which runs to the airbox on the left front side), a 716 inner diameter hose is needed. A valve cover breather should be placed at the end of the vent to prevent damage.

Flexible joints under the fenders are also necessary to allow pipes to bend, which can help prevent damage if the ATV is rolled or run under low hanging conditions. If you plan to go deep, it is recommended to extend the vents as high as possible. However, routing vents into the air box is not recommended unless you are certain that no fluid will be puked out through them.

The radiator overflow vent should also be snorkeled. The vent lines should run directly from the crankcase connection to the lower front side of the air box. If the air box is filled with water, it is recommended to run the crankcase vent.

In summary, snorkeling your ATV’s vent lines is crucial for maintaining fresh air and preventing damage to the engine.
