The Magic Kingdom at Disney World uses a virtual queue or Genie Lightning Lane, which does not significantly impact the rope drop strategy. However, it is important to arrive on time and follow instructions when rope dropping in the park. If you are a first-time visitor, doing Disney rope drop can make a difference in getting to your first attraction with little to no line.
The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the most popular choice for rope drop, located in Fantasyland. It has consistently been a popular choice for rope drop. To maximize your experience, consider going to the Jungle Cruise first, followed by Pirates, Big Thunder, and Haunted Mansion. This will create some backtracking if you decide to head back into Fantasyland or Tomorrowland.
For those not eligible for Early Entry, being at the park for rope drop at the official park opening can provide a significant advantage. When rope dropping the left side of Magic Kingdom, start at Jungle Cruise and then pirates. Be prepared to be torn between going to the other attractions or waiting for the first Genie pick.
In summary, Disney’s Magic Kingdom offers a variety of options for rope drop, including the Jungle Cruise and Pirates, but it is essential to arrive on time and follow instructions to ensure a smooth experience.

For resort guests: MK – You will go to Seven Dwarves (SDMT), Space Mountain, or Peter Pan. If you bought SDMT LL and dont want to ride twice then the other two are where you are going. Then get another ride in before the park opens for the GP assuming you are not too far back from everyone else. AK – You are going to Avatar like everyone else. You should get there just before hour early via Lyft and avoid the bus which doesn’t run until an hour before to get there faster and beat all the buses. If you have the LL for Avatar and dont want to go twice, then Safari is your next option. Epcot – You are going for Remy’s. Go in the back gate. You can get there via Lyft by dropping off at the Swan and Dolphin and walking about 15 min from there if getting there before parking opens (which I recommend). Also there is no parking for the back gate, so the front gate folks have 1/2 mile to walk to get there. If you are at an Epcot resort you can just walk to the back gate. If you are on the skyliner still do the Lyft, because those lines are long for rope drop. DHS – Same strategy as Epcot, but you are going to go to ROTR and stand in line. You could also choose Tower of Terror (TT) or Slinky if you bought the individual LL for ROTR. Second ride after Slinky is Toy Story. Second ride after TT is Aerosmith. After that do everything All Ears does.
Would Allears be willing to do a article of where to shop at all of the parks to get mickey ears? Maybe highlight the hidden store at the parks, which stores have kiddie ears, etc. Stores with the most unique ears… Thank you to the All Ears team for all of the articles, shorts, etc! Best articles on the web❤
We were at Epcot in a mid May afternoon and Remy’s was s 35 minute wait and Test Track was about an hour. Whilst my family were in Test Track I did a walk up to Space 220 which was quite a wait but just on my to do list as I don’t do roller coaster rides. One of our party keeps an eye on the wait times and we’ve all been able to do most of our individual activities. Wait times have generally been quite short.
Love you guys, but if you are staying at Walt Disney World resort and take advantage of early entry then Seven Dwarfs is your best choice. You should grab a Virtual Queue for Tron, a LL for Jungle Cruise or Peter Pan’s Flight, and catch the first bus in the morning from your resort. Side note, they start running 75 minutes before park opening, not 60. If you do catch the early bus you will be on or close to the rope and walk on. In April we used this strategy twice, and walked on both times. The second time we then went to Small World, which was just long enough for us experience before lining up for the 2nd rope for the other half of the park. We then rope dropped Big Thunder Mountain and walked on while holding a LL for Jungle Cruise. We then rode Pirates and Haunted Mansion with little wait as well. If you’re staying off property this really doesn’t apply, but on property this is the best way to go in my opinion.
Are there not still ropes at rope drop? I thought they were still stretched across the points you can’t go past until the park officially opens. Every rope drop article someone defines it like it’s only a metaphorical rope now. Idk, I’m not usually at the front but last time I was, there was a rope there.
