Can You Canoe On Lake Hefner?

Lake Hefner, located in central Oklahoma City, offers a variety of kayaking and boating opportunities. The city boating permit is required for all watercraft, except for kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats. The Lake Hefner Golf Course, situated on the southwest side of the lake, features a north and south course. The north course spans nearly 7,000 yards and is accessible from Hefner Lake Park, Oklahoma City.

All watercraft are permitted, except for engine-propelled personal watercraft under 12. Wakes are allowed in open areas only and not within 150 of other watercraft. The Lake Hefner Boathouse is open, and swimming is prohibited. However, fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, and sailing are allowed. A 9.8-mile paved trail is also available just north of Lake Hefner.

RIVERSPORT offers kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals at Lake Hefner, along with sailing lessons and camps for all ages. The Lake Hefner Boathouse is open, and the 9.8-mile multi-lake Overholser trail is located just north of the lake. This flatwater lake is perfect for beginners and families.

Lake Hefner is the newest location for RIVERSPORT to rent kayaks, go for a run around the lake, or sign up for a sailing lesson. 19 kayak rentals are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am-4pm. The attraction also offers lessons, camps, and both kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals.

Oklahoma Department of Wildlife officials said they were called in to investigate, but no alligators were observed.

I enjoyed cycling this trail much more than walking it. It was a great trail there is some construction, I really enjoyed this ride I’ll be back! Enjoyable day for a bike ride around Lake Hefner. Weather & temps were perfect.
