Can I bring a refillable water bottle on a Carnival cruise?

In the Marketplace on board the ship you’ll find a filtered water machine as well as a coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available 24 hours a day to keep you hydrated and caffeinated. Bring your own water bottle and travel coffee mug to take advantage of the unlimited refills and to make it easy to walk around the ship without spilling your beverage. If you forget your coffee mug, don’t worry, they have a coffee shop on board with specialty coffees too. Be sure to get their coffee card to get a stamp with each purchase toward a free beverage.

While I included a few packing tips above, here are few more things I recommend bringing to make your vacation even more awesome:

  • Zip-lock bags for keeping your stuff organized and dry when you’re at the pool or on shore at the beach
  • a few sweaters for when it gets a little chilly at night
  • note pads for doors and walkie talkies to communicate with your friends and family when your cell phones don’t work at sea
  • decorations to personalize your cabin door so you can easily find your room

Can I bring a 12 pack of soda on a Carnival cruise?

While in port, a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, juice) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought on board. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12-ounces/354-ml each or less per person.

Proper travel documentation is required at embarkation and throughout the cruise. Even though a guest has completed registration using Online Check-in, it is still the responsibility of the guest to present the required travel documents at the time of embarkation. Guests should check with their travel agent and/or government authority to determine the travel documents necessary for each port of call. Any guest without proper documents will not be allowed to board the vessel and no refund of the cruise fare will be issued. Carnival assumes no responsibility for advising guests of proper travel documentation.

Except where it is a mandatory requirement, Carnival highly recommends that all guests travel with a passport book. The passport book must be valid for at least six months beyond the completion of travel. This will enhance the debarkation experience as delays may be expected upon return to the United States for those without one. Additionally, this will enable guests to fly from the United States to meet their ship at a foreign port should they miss their scheduled port of embarkation and allow guests who must disembark the ship before their cruise ends, due to an emergency, to fly back to the United States without significant delays and complications.

For cruises that begin and end in the same U.S port, the following WHTI-compliant documents are acceptable for cruise travel. Please note that if the cruise visits Colombia or Greenland, a passport book(valid for at least six months beyond the completion of travel) is required. A passport card with the same validity is also acceptable for cruises to Colombia.

Can you bring your own toiletries on a cruise?

Bring Your Own Toiletries While many cruise lines offer complimentary shampoo and conditioner in stateroom bathrooms, they aren’t likely to be the products you use at home. I always bring my own shampoo, conditioner and of course, my hair care products.

In my recent12 Things to Know Before Your First Cruisearticle, I mentioned that one of the most frequently asked questions I hear about preparing for a cruise is: “What do I wear?” While my answer was simplified in the interest of brevityforthat article, I want to delve a little deeper in today’s vacation planning post, which is sponsored by Carnival. I’ll not only tell you everything you need to wear, butwhat to pack for a cruisein general. I’m a big time planner and I have found that a well-packed suitcase makes for a much more enjoyable cruise vacation!

Before you begin packing for your cruise, take a look at the itinerary on the cruise line’s website. Where are you going? What shore excursions have you booked? Do you plan on dining in the formal dining room, or only hitting the casual buffet each night?

For most cruises, you’ll want to bring at least one formal outfit for “formal night.” For women, this can mean anything from a nice dress to a ball gown. Men will want to wear a collared, button up shirt and tie with trousers and dress shoes. On Carnival cruises, ties aren’t required, but many men choose to wear them, as well as sport coats, on Cruise Elegant Dining nights. While men can wear a suit or tuxedo, it is not a requirement on most cruise lines. Think “Sunday Best” at the very least.

Can you carry-on a bottle of water on a cruise ship?

Yes! Guests are totally welcome to bring bottled water onto the ship as long as it is factory sealed in its original packaging. Water must be carried on with you—it can’t be packed in your checked luggage. You can also bring a small cooler (no larger than 12″ x 12″ x 12″) and nonperishable snacks that are sealed in their original packaging in your carry-on luggage. You can find more details on allowed and prohibited items here.

You’re also welcome to bring refillable water bottles with you! There are refill stations around the ship, or you can fill a disposable cup at one of the beverage stations to then transfer into your own water bottle. I love this option, especially when I’m traveling with my kids because I like having a beverage that I can seal and not worry about spilling! Ice is also available at the beverage stations, or you can request ice from your stateroom host. Each stateroom includes a mini refrigerator to keep your drinks cool, too!One last option, you can also order bottled water to be delivered to your stateroom. Currently, there are 6, 12, and 24 packs of water available for purchase.

Cheers to being well-hydrated, especially when you’re enjoying a sunny day on deck! Let me know if I can help you with other planning questions, Gloria!
