Can You Bring Food Back On A Cruise Ship?

Carnival’s list of prohibited items includes pre-packaged and unopened food items, homemade items, and pre-cooked foods. Onboard, guests can bring milk and distilled water for infant, medical, or dietary use, but alcohol bottles purchased onboard or in ports-of-call are not allowed.

Food and snacks are allowed on cruise ships, including major cruise lines like Carnival, but Royal Security may let them in against the rules. However, there are restrictions on the types of food and packaging. For example, waltz on board with seized alcohol will not be returned. Non-alcoholic beverages can be brought as carry-on items on boarding.

Food is technically not allowed to take off a cruise ship, especially fruits and vegetables. However, if you bring your own pre-packaged snacks, you can take them off. Most cruise lines do not mind taking food back to your cabin, but it is advisable to bring it on a tray or use a plate from the buffet to prevent spills and keep food warm.

Baked foods are generally allowed on the ship, but taking it off in most ports will be a problem. Pre-packaged snacks are generally allowed, but rules vary for alcohol. Prepackaged, shelf-stable foods are generally allowed, but avoid anything homemade, fresh, not in sealed packaging, and not on board.

On a cruise ship, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are always included in the cruise ticket. However, not every restaurant will be cost-free. Guests are not allowed to bring any food items other than dry, non-perishable snack items (cookies, crackers, chips, energy bars, etc.).
