Smoking is permitted in these areas, but must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. Visible signage and ashtrays are posted in areas where smoking is permitted. Cigar and pipe tobacco are limited to designated areas.

Guests 18 years of age or older are welcome to bring cigarettes and other tobacco products, such as cigars, onboard to smoke during their cruise. Can you smoke on a balcony cabin on a cruise ship?

Many cruise lines have implemented strict smoking policies in recent years, prohibiting smoking in most areas of the ship. These policies are designed to promote a healthy and safe environment for all passengers, including those who do not smoke. Typically, smoking is not allowed in any indoor public areas, including restaurants, bars, casinos, theatres, and cabins. Most cruise lines also forbid smoking on balconies and outdoor areas near food service areas.

However, some cruise lines allow smoking in designated areas. These areas are usually located in outdoor locations, such as designated smoking areas on the deck. These specific smoking areas often include ashtrays and smoking benches, and they are typically away from non-smoking areas of the ship. Additionally, some cruise lines have designated indoor smoking lounges or cigar bars, where passengers can enjoy a smoke in a comfortable environment. However, the availability of these areas varies from ship to ship and cruise line to cruise line.

Smoking Policies. It’s important to note that smoking policies vary depending on the cruise line and the specific ship. Some cruise lines have more lenient policies, while others have stricter regulations. What do smokers do on a cruise ship?

Outside, smokers are typically restricted to small areas on one or more decks. The designated area may be different from one ship to another within the same cruise line. Smoking information can usually be found in the FAQ section of the cruise line’s website, but when in doubt, ask upon boarding.

On European lines, there’s usually a bit more room for smokers to spread out, but even those lines are cutting back. Some cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean, adjust designated smoking areas when their ships are sailing from Australian ports.

2. We’ll be on Carnival Spirit. I know they hold alcohol until the end of the cruise, but are you allowed to take cigarettes at the time of purchase?
