Can You Bring Chips On Carnival Cruise?

Carnival cruise ships offer a variety of snacks and food options, with nearly 247 available. However, it is important to understand the limits on snack items, as everything must be pre-packaged and sealed on embarkation day. Chips are allowed to be brought on board as part of their menu. Non-perishable, packaged snacks, such as cookies, crackers, beef jerky, dried fruit snacks, mixed nuts, pre-popped popcorn, bags of chips, and candy, can be brought on board.

Carnival’s policy allows for alcoholic beverages purchased in a port of call to be brought back onto the ship, but these beverages will be non-perishable. Food items must be pre-packaged and unopened, and homemade items or pre-cooked foods will not be permitted on board. Pets are not permitted on board, and only working service dogs are permitted on board.

Snacks must be unopened, but loose wrapped candy can be carried. The main restriction is taking them off in port, not bringing them on to the ship. All products sold containing alcohol have a limit of two products per stateroom, and on 7-day and longer cruises, there is a limit of one bottle of hard liquor per stateroom.

Carnival’s Seuss at Sea™ Program is fleet-wide, featuring characters from Dr. Seuss’s beloved stories like Cats in Hats, Fish Red and Blue. However, food that is allowed to bring on a cruise should be properly packed and sealed, such as packets of chips, granola bars, packed cookies, and more.

In summary, Carnival cruise ships offer a variety of snacks and food options, but it is essential to understand the limitations and pack appropriately for your cruise vacation.

Can I bring a refillable water bottle on a Carnival cruise?

In the Marketplace on board the ship you’ll find a filtered water machine as well as a coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available 24 hours a day to keep you hydrated and caffeinated. Bring your own water bottle and travel coffee mug to take advantage of the unlimited refills and to make it easy to walk around the ship without spilling your beverage. If you forget your coffee mug, don’t worry, they have a coffee shop on board with specialty coffees too. Be sure to get their coffee card to get a stamp with each purchase toward a free beverage.

While I included a few packing tips above, here are few more things I recommend bringing to make your vacation even more awesome:

  • Zip-lock bags for keeping your stuff organized and dry when you’re at the pool or on shore at the beach
  • a few sweaters for when it gets a little chilly at night
  • note pads for doors and walkie talkies to communicate with your friends and family when your cell phones don’t work at sea
  • decorations to personalize your cabin door so you can easily find your room

Are chips allowed in hand luggage?

Packaged Snacks. Good news for travelers who want to bring home interesting snacks from great food destinations around the world: as long as everything is sealed, you’re good to go. Unopened snacks such as granola bars, nuts, chips, crackers, and cookies are safe in your carry-on or checked bag.

Chocolates and Candy. Confectionary candy and chocolate (hardened) are perfectly alright to carry on your flight. Keep everything neat and packaged, and feel free to pack the sweets in your carry-on or checked bag.

Bread. Yes, you can even take home that baguette. Ask the bakery to give you some packaging so you can avoid crumbs in your bag, but otherwise, bread of any kind is good to fly in both carry-on and checked luggage.

Can I bring a 12 pack of soda on a Carnival cruise?

While in port, a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, juice) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought on board. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12-ounces/354-ml each or less per person.

Proper travel documentation is required at embarkation and throughout the cruise. Even though a guest has completed registration using Online Check-in, it is still the responsibility of the guest to present the required travel documents at the time of embarkation. Guests should check with their travel agent and/or government authority to determine the travel documents necessary for each port of call. Any guest without proper documents will not be allowed to board the vessel and no refund of the cruise fare will be issued. Carnival assumes no responsibility for advising guests of proper travel documentation.

Except where it is a mandatory requirement, Carnival highly recommends that all guests travel with a passport book. The passport book must be valid for at least six months beyond the completion of travel. This will enhance the debarkation experience as delays may be expected upon return to the United States for those without one. Additionally, this will enable guests to fly from the United States to meet their ship at a foreign port should they miss their scheduled port of embarkation and allow guests who must disembark the ship before their cruise ends, due to an emergency, to fly back to the United States without significant delays and complications.

For cruises that begin and end in the same U.S port, the following WHTI-compliant documents are acceptable for cruise travel. Please note that if the cruise visits Colombia or Greenland, a passport book(valid for at least six months beyond the completion of travel) is required. A passport card with the same validity is also acceptable for cruises to Colombia.

Can I bring my own snacks on a Carnival cruise?

This is what Carnival officially says about it: Due to concerns for food safety and contamination prevention, any food items brought on board must be pre-packaged and unopened. Homemade items or pre-cooked foods are not allowed.

I know some people bring their own food and snacks on board and it’s usually ok if it is unopened. Hubby and I have a layover in Chicago and would love to grab some popcorn. Since it’s not a factory sealed, just bagged up, would that be allowed?

Assuming you are talking about purchasing it at the airport. Both Ohare and Midway have popcorn stores that sell packaged popcorn.

Chicago popcorn means Garrett’s. Maybe if you get the tin can? I may have booked a flight or two through Chicago just for Garrett’s.
