If you were a young adult, this song motivated you go live life to the fullest and enjoy yourself more. If you were in your older years, the song made you reminisce and seek to do things to feel that way every now and then. 13 years later we still smile and remember what this song meant to us ❤️
I was 9 years old when this song came out and I remember it being played everywhere, on the radio, tv and even in shopping malls. I remember it was Christmas Eve when this song was playing on the tv and my parents were wrapping presents for my family while we were playing around with my cousins. It was raining hard outside and it was a few hours before Christmas. Nice and gorgeous times that are now gone. I didn’t know it was my penultimate christmas with my dad before he dies.

Upon leaving home after getting married years and years ago I left my collection of Moody Blues 8-track tapes and Motorola player to my younger brother who was 13 at the time. Little did I know at the time how he’d come to embrace the band. My brother remained a Moody’s fan up until the moment of his untimely passing at age 47 a little under 13 years ago. He would go to see the Moody Blues anywhere within a 300-mile radius of home. My dear, dear brother.
My brother came home from his service in the Army at about this time. I remember his duffle bag, and his suitcase full of Lps! This album was one of them. We spent many hours in his room listening to everything from The Yes Album, to Black Sabbath’s Paranoid to The Door’s Live Album to Sugarloaf (Green eyed lady) to The Carpenter’s Close to you. We would never just hear one song, but usually the entire album. That was how we could tell how good a band was. Such great memories of my late brother.

The Moodies were so awesome…their first 7 albums were incomparable. Justin and John were the balladeer and troubadour, Graeme the poet, Ray the leprechaun, and Mike the futurist. I loved just about everything they did musically. They were at the height of their powers at this time and their legacy will hopefully live on long after our generation passes on. The Moodies spoke volumes for our generation and I miss them not being around any longer to carry on. So I listen to their albums and sing their tunes! Rock on, boys!
I was sweet sixteen when this song came out. My girlfriend and I would listen to this and the Moody Blues other songs and make out in her living room. Flower children we were and will always be. Great band. I was born in ‘65 but loved music from my earliest days. I remember my uncle, who was a Vietnam veteran and wounded terribly during Tet, putting in an 8-Track of the Beatles White album and saying, “Tommy, this is the greatest rock and roll band ever” while we were driving down an Ohio interstate. I must have been four or five. My Mom liked the Moody Blues as well as Carrol King and the Turtles. What a great time for music.

The Moody Blues are iconic– I saw them live at least a dozen times over the years at various venues— I used to turn my Harmon-Kardon 100 watt amp almost to max thru my Klipsch speakers for “Ride My See-Saw”!!!!! Everything rattled off the shelves, pictures fell off the wall, and anything on the floor moved like the old electronic football game!!!!!!! Same with “Magic Bus” from Live at Leeds!!!!

The undisputed kings of progressive rock. There would be no ’60s drug experience without the Moody Blues. Was privileged to see them a number of times from 1978 until the early 2000s. Played all their records with a group of trippy friends in suburban Denver throughout the late ’70s. Love them still.
One of my first albums I owned was recorded on a Realistic Cassette player I bought at Radio Shack, it was the Moody Blues “In Search of the Lost Chord”. Actually it was either an older brother or sister that had the record (LP) that I used to record the album. Sad that many of that generation are gone, the 60’s were not always wonderful, but the music defined the era.
I used to fall asleep at my school and rock band friend’s house and fall asleep to Moody Blues LPs spinning on his cool stereo floor TV/.turrntable/radio console with headphones on .weekend it used to piss him off that I could fall asleep with the turntable still spinning and headphones still on. The Moody Blues were great to sleep to. I am 73 and played bass and sang in 4 rock groups. I am still kicking, while many band mates and friends fell by my wayside. Sad. Peace and stay clean,healthy, and live a long life. It is actually a short one.
Loved them, when they came out, particularly with the flute and orchestral parts, saw them live in the 90s, and some recent article of Justin Hayward onstage in 2024 with accoustic guitar and a flutist playing Forever Autumm . These days I am appreciating similar kinds of music produced by symphonic metal bands from europe, that don’t get big in North America. Nightwish for example, who use London symphony and choirs in their mix and onstage backing tracks. Phenominal live.
