Can Green Card Holders Enter Mexico Without A Visa?

As a US Green Card holder and permanent resident of the United States, you can travel to Mexico visa-free for up to 180 days. However, certain documents must be prepared.

Green card holders can enter Mexico for up to 180 days without a visa, provided they have a valid and unexpired visa from Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and any of the following countries: Canada, the United States of America, or any other nationality.

For Cancun, green card holders are required to have a valid passport and a Mexican tourist visa. The passport must be valid for the duration of the visit to Cancun.

US citizens and LPRs do not need a visa to visit Mexico, nor do those with any kind of US visa (tourist/work). According to Mexican immigration laws, green card holders are visa exempt, granting them free entry and exit to and from Mexico.

Green card holders who are visiting Mexico as tourists do not need a visa, but they still need to buy a Mexico tourist card.

Green card holders do not have to apply for a Mexico Visa, but they must obtain a Mexican Tourist Card, which the Immigration Office requires. This allows them to cross the border to Mexico without having to apply for a Mexican visa, regardless of their nationality.
