Are There Cops On Cruise Ships?

Cruise ships do not have police, but rather an onboard Security Director oversees the ship’s dedicated security department, staffed by former law enforcement personnel from various countries. Cruise ships sailing to or from the USA must have at least one crew member trained in security. These officers are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of cruise ship brigs, which typically contain beds, toilets, and showers.

Cruise ships generally have their own security staff, including trained security guards. However, modern-day cruise ships still have small jails known as the brig, where unruly passengers could be locked up if they violate the cruise line’s code of conduct. Cruise ship police officers are more like security guards, many of whom serve as law enforcement officers or members of the security team.

Cruise ships have private security personnel who work for the cruise line, and it is important for every cruisegoer to understand what can happen to them. They are onboard, on duty, and available at all times. If you become aware of someone being injured or unsafe or possibly illegal behavior during your cruise, it is essential for you to inform the security team.

Cruise ships are one of the safest vacation options in the world, with rates of serious crimes being significantly lower than those on land. Royal Caribbean Cruise Ships and other cruise ship accidents and passengers are all aware of the importance of maintaining a secure environment on board.
