Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
1. Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
Visiting this experience in winter was a white wonderland. It was warmish in Palm Springs City Centre but above the mountain top it was snowy and magical. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is the world’s largest rotating tram car. You will be whisked away on a ten minute journey, along the breathtaking cliffs of Chino Canyon, transporting riders to the pristine wilderness of the Mt. San Jacinto State Park. Once at the top there is dining, hikes and adventures to have.

UP UP and away!
2. Retro Shopping
Palm Springs is all about mid-century chic. It is home to one of the world’s largest collections of mid-twentieth-century modern design, architecture, furnishings and homes. Palm Springs is filled with great design shops – mod, retro and upscale vintage stores. With the majority of the shopping along Palm Canyon Drive.
3. House Hunting
Drive the back streets of town and you will find the most stunning mid-century homes to look (gawk) at and dream. This was the holiday residence for the rich and famous during the 60’s. If the walls could talk…..
- Barry Manilow’s residence – The Kaufmann House 470 Vista Chino,
- Frank Sinatra 70588 Frank Sinatra Drive, Rancho Mirage
- Liberace 226 Alejo Road/501 Belardo Road
4. Dinosaurs
20min drive from Palm Springs are huge dinosaurs with the world’s biggest dinosaurs. The kids will love it. Head to Cabazon Dinosaurs for your prehistoric adventure.
5. Eat and Relax
Book yourself into a resort and chill for a few days (our kids swam in the winter in the heat pool at the hotel). The food scene is trendy, the tiki bars are fun and the locals are super friendly. Soak up the 60’s celebrity vibe and enjoy all Palm Springs has to offer.

Never thought of Palm Springs as a family vacation destination, but may be worth checking out next time we’re in Cali.

Certainly was not expecting to see snow. Since I love to Roosevelt Island Tram, I would try that one too!
I’ll have to add Roosevelt to my list
Definitely looks groovy. Loved the snow and the aerial tramway.
Palm springs looks like an interesting place, can’t say I’d heard of it beforehand! Will have to check it out if I head to the US!
I had no idea about the snow! That view from the top is incredible! I’d love to gawk at all of those houses and shop up a retro storm one day.
